Oh dear, I have - kinda mixed feelings on this one. Do I oppose Chinese nationals who want a vacation home, condo for their kids etc buying a home? Nope, not at all. Do I oppose foreign nationals buying up huge chunks of property as 'investment income' and turning them into poorly maintained, overpriced rentals? Yeah, that part I kinda do. And this does happen; I used to see this all the time when I worked in property management. I'm not sure how you should handle this, tho I can be fairly certain Rhonda's route ain't it.

Usually DeSantis kidnaps people from other states and buses them to Massachusetts. Which is actually insane.

After I told my parents about the bill, they feel like America doesn’t welcome us. They don’t want to come here anymore.”

Yeah, you know, laws like that do give that sort of impression to those they target.

There is one giant flaw in the "furners buying up murica" beef, that is they can't take it home with them. They are betting a lot of their wealth on the stability of the United States and all that will crash down the first time congress fails to raise the debt ceiling. Do I think its a foolish bet? I dunno. I can't understand derivatives, credit default swaps, ETFs, crypto currencies and NFTs. I've never had so mush money that I felt I could throw it in a wishing well, light cigars with it or invest in Florida real estate that I wasn't going to live in.

He could do just as much for his political aspirations with hand puppets, without alienating Asian-Americans ("Orr yew Chah-nese or Japan-ese") the whole real estate industry and land developers. His target audience is not, to say the least, hard to amuse.

Wealthy people from all over the world in many cases buy up high end real estate for purely investment purposes and often no one actually occupies the properties. This is not helpful to the people who actually live in those cities for a variety of reasons. So, I think this issue, more broadly, is not so simple. Of course, targeting only Chinese is just straight up racist, so even when Republicans kinda sorta are on to a real problem, their "solutions" can't not be awful and never actually address the issue an any helpful way.

What's the difference between a pragmatic progressive (as you describe yourself) and a older, boomer, neoliberal? In't older boomer redundant?

Never thought I'd live to see a so-called "leftist" media outlet basically fellating rich foreign investors at the expense of working-class and generational Americans locked out of the housing market. Yeah, we can all agree that DeFascist is a POS, but this is a problem that needs serious redress, not more Neoliberal, corporate, ass-licking of this magnitude. It wouldn't be an issue if it weren't.

Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) is going after the Saudi-owned alfalfa farms guzzling up her state's water supply for their own benefit. As she should!

Yes. And old enough to know that additional income to the economy raises ALL boats, regardless of where it comes from. Oh, and here's a single word you can look up in the dictionary: logic.

Long before you were born, boomers fought for civil rights, women's rights, an end to unnecessary wars, living wages for everyone, decent and affordable education, the advancement of medicine, science and technology, expanding our infrastructure and God knows what else. What has your generation accomplished apart from staring at your phones all goddamn day? Stop being a chump, respect your elders and their achievements and start doing something useful for society.

DeSantis’s legislative problem is that he has to go all Code of Hammurabi on every issue. There are ways this issue could have been handled that would be a lot less disruptive.
