Run DNC!
Of course Howard Dean ain't even trying to hear Russell Simmons -- Simmons is a minority, and not only that, he's rich. And as we've learned from, oh, 2000 or so rave reviews from the liberal media in recent weeks, Dean has trouble reaching those constituencies. Also not the trash-talking party chairman's forte: winning over homophobes, or crafting messages that appeal to the Culture of Backdoor Abortions, and we're pretty sure we'll see editorials knocking him for these weaknesses soon enough. Just for balance, one undeniable strength of his? Provoking comments like this:
"Where do I sign up on a committee to keep Howard Dean?'' crowed GOP operative Jon Fleischmann, publisher of the FlashReport, a daily roundup of California political news and commentary. "He's the best thing to happen to the GOP in ages."
Wait, Dean is a better talking point for the GOP than the march of freedom in Iraq, the War on Social Security, soaring gas prices, slow job growth, the $7.8 trillion national debt, and the ever-expanding Patriot Act? Okay, yeah, actually, we agree.— GREG BEATO
