Help us, centrist liberal! You're our only hope! Rightwing panic over Ted Cruz's withdrawal from the campaign is manifesting itself in some pretty weird ways. Consider, for instance, this RedState post calling for Senate Republicans to drop their "let the people have a voice" rhetoric and just confirm Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court already. Obviously, since all hope is lost and Hillary Clinton will be president, says RedStater Leon Wolf, it's better for conservatives to choke back their tears and confirm Garland rather than risk whatever horrifying Red Hillary will nominate:
I saw an analysis of her voting record that said she was the 11th most liberal senator during her tenure - more liberal than Obama and Biden and just ahead of Patrick Leahy.
I was pretty much raised an Eisenhower Republican - taxes, public works, infrastructure, unions, tolerance. Which makes me a communist to these assholes.
I'm hoping they dig up some of the older stuff, from the 1990s, when Turnip was all over rightwing radio in NYC, spouting the most repellent crap. When five black teenagers were accused of raping a white jogger in Central Park, he took out a full-page ad in the newspapers, calling for them to be, essentially, lynched. He was the loudest most relentless voice for getting them thrown in prison forever. The youngest was 14. And as it turned out 10 years later, they were innocent. I want that story to be all over the news coverage, every time he makes some kind of outreach to black voters.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 83, Anthony Kennedy is 79, and Stephen Breyer is 77. Any or all of them could retire or be Scaliaed by President Clinton in the next eight years. Roberts, Thomas, and Alito could spend the rest of their terms writing minority whinges for a long time.
As always the knee-jerk reflex to oppose everything Obama does without considering if it will be beneficial to the opposition again rears its ugly head. If they turn tail now on their voice of the voters bullshit, they'll be sending a clear message to the voters that they don't think their candidate has a chance in November.
Let's not forget that, despite the illusion of being a populist uprising against Obama starting on April 15, 2009, the Tea Party was created with Koch Brothers money and Fox News.

I'm more liberal than Obama, and I'm a registered Republican.
It wouldn't be hard to be. And, it makes the obstructionism in the Senate all the more damning.
Is there no way for Disqus to filter these out? They're so distinctively formatted and repetitious that it can't be that hard to tag and block 'em.
And vote downticket! A democrat president won't be able to do much unless and until the house and senate are democratic (in both senses) too.
Have you seen her ad about Trump the uniter? She's already there.
I'm team Bernie but I am tired of my teammates.
A couple of days ago one showed up and I replied to it, fuck off. It was gone within an hour. So for this one I say : fuck off.
Bless you

People don't plan to fail. They fail to plan.

Oh yeah. The RNC sent a memo to staffers telling them to get on board for Trump or pack up their desks.
