My man in congress, the most excellent Maxwell Frost (D), and everyone in his operation have earned SERIOUS political juice with this victory. They were out there early on this race, and were sure to let everybody know. They paired old-school, door-to-door GOTV efforts with a Gen-Z-powered phone/text bank ...an energetic hustle that certainly got my ass in gear. And the sole TV ad (as far as I saw) was sharply focused on the insane FL abortion ban (which had the potential to be tricky, because it was MAN: pro choice, WOMAN: Forced birth). Well done, Rep. Frost, and my fellow, not-dead-yet Florida Democrats!
Her campaign started scrubbing all of the Wayback entries, but I managed to pull this from early 2021. (capitalization mistakes hers, not mine).

As a christian, as a mother, and as a woman, I believe life begins at conception and we must do everything we can to protect our innocent babies. Human life is a precious gift and we must honor it. As your Congresswoman I promise to fight for each and every soul and to always support the sanctity of life.
I blanked on the capital as well, and share your frustration with unalphabetized capitals.
I'm also getting way more familiar with world geography from playing this game. Love it! I even do the "where was this taken?" and "Name this state" games, even though the state game is trivial for Americans. Colorado and Wyoming are the only REALLY ambiguous ones.
They *don't* ordinarily plow the entire damned city? What, is there a black neighborhood or something? Whoy, up heah in V'mawnt, if the town didn't plow all the roads, a mob with tiki torches and pitchforks would be surrounding the town hall in short order.
Meh, I get prime for the delivery perks, such as they are. If they mess with that, I'll ditch it in a hot second.
We'll see "Prime Shiny Diamond Plus" accounts on offer soon enough, I bet, where you can pay $500 p/a to get back to what prime used to be at base level.
Representative Dan Goldman, Democrat of New York, on Wednesday announced he would file a formal censure of Representative Elise Stefanik, Republican of New York, accusing her of peddling voter fraud conspiracy theories that fueled the Jan. 6, 2021, attack at the Capitol and supporting rioters who violently threatened members of Congress, referring to them as “hostages.”
...“Our preference would be for Republicans to recognize that kind of rhetoric has to stop and find a spine and stand up to Donald Trump,” Mr. Goldman said in an interview. He said he would consider seeking to force a vote in the future, if G.O.P. leaders fail to take up the matter themselves, something that appears exceedingly unlikely.
they make it sound like the GOP leaders failing to take up the matter is exceedingly unlikely, where as it is GOP leaders taking the matter up that is exceedingly unlikely
Another Joe Biden appointee trying to do good for the people. I try to point this out to anyone who says "Joe Biden" in a grumbling tone. I did it with the student loan good news the other day. I told a coworker whose daughters could possibly benefit from it that if you want this to continue you had better vote for Biden.

I'm having a feeling that there's not a lot to wash in many cases.
I was going to go to work today. Mrs. G - you're not going anywhere.
Gotta call out boss
Why?
Wife said so
Well, it's still pretty icy out there.
I just got tickled by the idea XD
She is right of course.
Ooh, lucky you!
Glad you are working! Hope the new job is to your delight.
You're going to have to wait five minutes, cats! Five!
Yeah, right. Good luck with that.
Good morning!

Blanked on the capital; I liked it better when they were sorted alphabetically.
I believe that two years ago I would not have had a clue about the country or any of the neighbors...

I do statele to warm up; I'm usually about half asleep.
Wyoming is further north and so the east and west borders are at a sharper angle, at least in the projection that Worldle uses.
Good morning all! (waves) How’s things?
Still awake, cold, and now annoyed with all of the snow that's accumulated outside.
I am enormously grateful that Spokane intends to plow the entire damned city because it sure as hell needs it.
Geez. Take care.
When I lived In Boulder it had very efficient snow removal- 98% solar.

Shh, the things are sleeping.
Morning! How are you and your creatures?
We’re good! It’s cold, but not as bad as the last two days.
Very cold. And wet. And not in a good way for the latter.
Morning! ☕️
Cold.
Bezos net worth: $151 BILLION
And now he wants $139 a year for Prime membership which includes ads from corporate sponsors.
Space dick can go piss up a rope.

Welp, this was my last year.
Fuck you, Bezos.
The enshittification of platforms continues apace.
Do they realize that they are doing away with any and all motivation to have them instead of cable?
Prime is losing its usefulness.
I'm done. Cancelled yesterday.

I wonder if Zuckerberg would want his own children on Facebook.
If it would expand growth, he absolutely would.
He already uses his family as props in his "I AM TOO human!" videos.
Fantastic. Wake up this morning and realize Iran decided to pick a fight with a nuclear power that is as crazy as they are.
That is NOT going to end well.
Pakistan hasn't nuked India or vice versa after generations of deadly rivalry and brinksmanship.
What makes you think a fuckpit like Iran will kick off WW3 instead?
I have been glowering balefully at my Google news page since reading that myself.
This is indeed not going to end well at all.
Sorry, should have linked.

God I have SUCH A HUGE CRUSH on Goldman!
I am thoroughly besotted with both Dan Goldman and Jamie Raskin.
I love Raskin, too!
He is just ALL of that and then some, isn't he?
they make it sound like the GOP leaders failing to take up the matter is exceedingly unlikely, where as it is GOP leaders taking the matter up that is exceedingly unlikely

"Misunderstand". Yeah. We wouldn't want to make it really easy to lose profits, would we?
lol
Misunderstand the consequences of cancelling
No more"My Pillow Ads"... SURE you wanna cancel????

Hospital ratings dive and medical errors rise when private equity firms are in charge.
https://arstechnica.com/health/2024/01/hospitals-slash-staff-services-quality-of-care-when-private-equity-takes-over/
Should have stomped on this when the granny farming began, thirty years ago.
Whaat?! You mean private equity in most industries is *bad*?
They closed a huge hospital here in an extremely poor area, because the profit motive was gone.
Healthcare is a human right - not a plaything for Hedge fund assholes.
Private equity (for the most part) profits off of human misery. Layoffs. Factory closings. Staff reductions.
All in the name of investor profits.
No shit.
There's also a significant shortage of nurses that these for-profit dumps aren't doing anything to help rectify. It will get worse long before it EVER gets better.
The RN shortage is really putting a strain on the staff. The last month of RSV + Flu + COVID had the local hospital full + 10%.
I've heard more than a few horror stories from paul and I really regret the fact that even at 60 I can't put my uniform back on and go back to work.
I KNOW what can happen when you work short and it isn't good for anyone.
INCONCEIVABLE!
Well she should be happy. Now she can return to teaching at the front lines of the indoctrination and all, right?
I've got three minutes to get dressed, get out the door, put the barrels to the curb, and drive to work. And I'm sitting here like a sloth.
Have a good day, everyone! Now I'm late.
