Yep, Rutherfordton is about 15 miles from my N.C. house. The KKK crap is rampant throughout the rural South, emphasis on rural. The cities and university towns are oases, but they're never able to outvote the rest. I now live 25 miles from the oasis of Athens, in a rural area of Georgia, and the difference is like day and night. One of my country neighbors told me "I only go into Athens when I have to, and then I get right out."
