Here's the link to the LA Times article about how rabidly racist anti-immigrant attacks combined with abortion rights on the ballot might affect the presidential outcome in Florida:

Ta, Crip Dyke. Yes, we need at least one trans woman in Congress.

SethTriggs's avatar

Mount up and bring her the victory!

Crip Dyke's avatar

I will read them so you don't have to.

Who knows, maybe there is even something in there that triggers a thought for me that's important enough to write a story on.

Let's grow the squad!

Tina Mouse's avatar

WTF?

The Squad has mostly not endorsed Harris.

Learn to Google.

Jen's Taking Greenland's avatar

They have all endorsed Harris. Out loud. With their mouths.

Tina Mouse's avatar

FYI Rashida Tlaib has publicly come out and refused to endorse Harris, after failing to do so previously.

Out loud.

With her impressively loud and large mouth.

Tina Mouse's avatar

Please show me where Rashida Tlaib endorsed Biden.

Then show me where she endorses Harris.

And I will acknowledge I am wrong.

Because all I see is her trashing the Dems.

AOC is becoming an impressive leader. Bush and Bowman ran on hating Jews & lost. Lee ran on constituent service and against billionaires, stopping with the hate.

Damn. The Democrats are going to finish breaking ALL THE GLASS CEILINGS. Hillary cracked the big one, and that set up America for even more equality in governance. Maybe the other countries in the world will let us sit at the grown-up's table again.

Or we can have a "christian" nationalist hellscape ruled over by an undeniably stupid dictator owned by everyone EXCEPT Americans.

Crip Dyke's avatar

Can't wait for the Black trans woman from the ATL to hit the US Senate.

That will be a joyous day.

YOU GUYS! As a Delawarean I cannot express enough how BEYOND EXCITED I am about Sarah. She’s the first local politician that the moment she announced I became a monthly donor. She’s the real deal, and I’ve said in the comments here before she’s a STAR. At the beginning of her career she worked closely in college with our former Governor Markell. Her personal relationship with him (and hard work advocating with many others) seems to have been Instrumental in getting gender identity added to our state equal protection laws. She campions healthcare/caretaker laws because her husband Andrew she met working with HRC (a trans man) passed from cancer shortly after their wedding. She was my State Senator and when some dipshit downstate tried to propose anti trans laws IN THE COMMITTEE SHE CHAIRED my girl read her for filth (there’s video, it’s glorious). The fun thing about Delaware is we are so small that you literally run into your reps around town or know them or their friends personally. Years ago I made a fangirly idiot of myself to her when we ended up at the same Galentines brunch. She was so kind and gracious.

I CANNOT WAIT for her to take her seat across from MTG and show her what a real woman looks like: compassionate, intelligent, and unwavering in her service.

As a former Delawareian, I'm glad to see this.

Bitter Scribe's avatar

Dare one hope that this may be a stepping-stone for her to the Senate?

I mean, that's kind of a thing in states with only one congressperson, no? Everyone in the state has to vote them in, so...

JoannaJeannineJanet's avatar

That is SO COOL! What a wonderful person!

Victoria's avatar

Watch this idiot stutter when she tries to get him to give ANY KIND of defense or purpose for this law besides transphobia (spoiler: there is none).

Watching right now!

Tish James vs. Wayne Allyn Root!

Attorney General James Orders TV Host to Stop Marketing Bogus Coronavirus Treatments

Sends Cease & Desist Notice to Newsmax Host Wayne Allyn Root for

Misleading Claims About Effectiveness of Products in Treating Coronavirus

New York Attorney General Letitia James ordered Wayne Allyn Root to immediately cease and desist marketing products as treatments or cures for coronavirus. Wayne Allyn Root -- through his television show on Newsmax and his social media accounts -- has been marketing products as treatments and preventative measures for coronavirus. Root has made misleading claims that products from www.MyDoctorSuggests.com and advertised on his show will help cure coronavirus and "might save your life" if you contract coronavirus. There is currently no Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved vaccine to prevent the disease or treatment to cure it and the World Health Organization has also said that there is no specific medicine to prevent or treat this disease.

"As the coronavirus continues to spread across the country, so too are the deceptive and predatory businesses seeking to take advantage of consumers," said Attorney General James. "Mr. Root is just the latest example of this exploitative behavior that not only misleads the public, but actually compromises our health and safety. We will continue to go after any individual or entity that preys on consumers, especially during this crisis."

Amazing that there are still morons who will buy this bullshit, but won't get a proven safe and effective vaccine.

OT: my daughter's friend has had her baby! First, the baby looked like a breach birth, so the doctor had her do some exercises, which were successful in getting the baby to turn. Then, they tired inducement, afraid that the baby would turn again, but the first one was a failed one. The second one was a success, and now mother and daughter are doing fine. Thanks for the positive thoughts and prayers.

being breach saved me from being born in the back seat of my parents' plymouth horizon. got to hospital just in time, about a half hour before mom's ob, who was playing rugby that day.

"do some exercises, which were successful in getting the baby to turn". The image of those 1950's vibrating belt machines to shake the kid into place came to mind.

CambridgeKnitter's avatar

My baby was turned on the other axis (front to back rather than top to bottom), so the midwife reached in and did the turning. It was amazing how much discomfort magically disappeared. I guess we really are designed for this to happen a particular way.
