She tried to gun down a large North American Mammal and missed it several times. It looked to me like she'd never been hunting before and had only fired a rifle a couple of times.
This beast was huge and she kept missing it. I don't think she could hit the broad side of a barn with a sawed off shotgun.
My personal theory (untested by research) is the newspapers in Alaska couldn't stand her so she didn't read those because they were critical. And she saw no reason to read any Outside newspapers. Either.
