Sarah Palin Sues New York Times For Wrongthink Thoughtcrime Double Plus Ungood

Before she was shot in the head in 2011, Congresswoman Gabby Giffords had gone on TV to complain that Sarah Palin was pallin' around with terrorists; one had smashed Giffords's office door after Palin's PAC put out an ad with Giffords's electoral seat, among others, targeted with "surveyor's marks." (They were not surveyor's marks; they were crosshairs, like you see through a rifle sight. Don't let anybody gaslight you with obvious bullshit.)

Was Palin dancing up to and over the line of inciting violence? Before her brain injury, before she had to learn to talk all over again, Giffords said yes:

"We're on Sarah Palin's Targeted list," Giffords told MSNBC in March, after the door of her Tucson office was smashed after her vote in favor of the health care bill. "But the thing is the way she has it depicted, it has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district and when people do that, they've got to realize there are consequences to that action." Giffords, however, demurred when the interviewer noted that such imagery has long been a staple of politics and asked whether Palin really meant it. "I can't say, I'm not Sarah Palin," Giffords replied.

Never let it be said that Palin refuses to take personal responsibility. After a Bernie Sanders dude shot up Republican baseball earlier this month, the New York Times editorial board wrote down some thoughts about how inciting violence is bad. And now Sarah Palin is suing them for it.

The Editorial Board walked into some dicey territory, however. They drew a parallel between the recent shooting and the 2011 attack on Democratic Rep. Gabby Giffords, which also left six dead and more injured. In doing so, the board said there was a “clear” link between the actions of shooter Jared Lee Loughner and speech by Palin’s political action committee. Commenters, many conservative, did not respond kindly.

They corrected their opinion. (They corrected an opinion.) And they corrected it again:

An earlier version of this editorial incorrectly stated that a link existed between political incitement and the 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords. In fact, no such link was established. The editorial has also been updated to clarify that in a map distributed by a political action committee before that shooting, electoral districts, not Democratic lawmakers, were depicted beneath stylized cross hairs.

Gee, you know who else had that opinion, even when it was just goons smashing her office and not even yet shooting her in the head and face, after which she lost the ability to form opinions for a while?

Sarah Palin should sue her too. Really. She should try it.

Here's an opinion for you, Former Half-Term Governor Palin: There is a link between what you said, over and over -- "don't retreat, reload!" -- and the guns you just could not stop humping (FIGURE OF SPEECH, I do not THINK you actually put guns in your chonch, Jesus wouldn't like it!), and your goddamn crosshairs, and your trashing of any and all opponents as Kenyan Islamazoid un-American commie terrorists, and lunatics taking you at your word. Which, again, you said, a lot.

Here's another opinion for you, Halfie: A "link" is in the eye of beholder. In fact, the ability to see connections, or "links," between disparate events is a hallmark of creativity and intelligence (and sometimes, when those links run amok, schizophrenia!). You cannot sue someone for seeing "links" between things.

Here's yet another opinion to take into consideration, Governor Quitter: Spending $77,500 on donations to candidates out of total spending of $2.2 million in 2016 makes your pac, SarahPAC, one of the political world's shadiest grifters. I think you're a crook! I believe you're a terrible, stupid, vicious, lazy, greedy, slothful person. And I am pretty sure America dodged a bullet (GET IT???) when you sat your ass back down in the cheap seats after losing your race for vice president.

It's a pity Gabby Giffords, and the six people who were murdered right next to her, didn't dodge those bullets too.
