I hate Windows 11 and MS Teams. No more drag and drop. Weirdly organized menus. Functions most people would never use. Default saving to the Cloud instead of your local drive. Relocating basic functions to some sub-directory to force you to use AI and the Cloud and pay them for the privilege. Having to reset everything when there is a power outage or surge. The list grows apace. And the security issues...

Old programmers on drugs... now THEY knew how to design a simple and elegant system.

Switching to Linux soon and selling any remaining MSFT stock. My protest against enshittification. I'll start dropping to paper for everything. Longhand and typewriters shall make their triumphant return!

Who else thinks that Windows Vista and Windows NT were the best OS versions ? Does Apple suffer from this on their laptops? (Haven't used Apple since 2004 or so.)

Going Luddite soon. Yes, I am old, so get off my xeriscaped lawn/yard!

So what happens when a child of refugees from Communist Cuba gets to the top of the political heap? He becomes his own Fidel Castro and discards the constitution that granted his family asylum. He can spare me any bleeding heart conservative rhetoric. He is just another failed politico who found fame and money in an authoritarian con man. At least Fidel was honest about his politics.

Rubio's parents were not U.S. citizens at the time of Rubio's birth. They were naturalized in 1975. Some relatives of Rubio's were admitted to the U.S. as refugees. Rubio's maternal grandfather, Pedro Victor Garcia, immigrated to the U.S. legally in 1956, but returned to Cuba to find work in 1959.

"What is habeas corpus anyway? Most folks who got at least a B in high school social studies know it’s the right to demand the government tell you what you’re being accused of before it can arrest or jail you, but not Noem"

Definition:

"a writ requiring a person under arrest to be brought before a judge or into court, especially to secure the person's release unless lawful grounds are shown for their detention."

People both under arrest and in jail can, and do, petition for writs of habeas corpus.

I see where Justice Brown Jackson appended a negative remark about the Venezuelans being thrown to the wolves. I can't believe the other female Justices (besides the Handmaiden)

signed off on this. Anybody know?

Noem makes me want Senators to have the ability to cut a witness' mic when they try to spew bullshit over whatever pushback they're getting. Except I wouldn't want assholes like Jordan to have one, so I guess we can't have nice things.

I wonder how many Republicans do not understand the Civil War, when Lincoln was president, was an actual rebellion versus those who just play dumb for the cameras?

I doubt Noem knows the difference between why the Civil War is different than immigration in 2025, but I bet folks like Miller do.

If this is what MAGA believes, that "habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country," then they should call for the Supreme Court to unambiguously uphold the principle of habeas corpus.

Kristi Noem is a self absorbed, vindictive, cruel, evil woman. Remember she shot a puppy for no other reason that it didn't live up to her expectations. Couldn't learn to hunt properly She could have just given it to a family who wanted a pet. Some dogs just are not hunters, but make for wonderful loving house companions. I once had an Irish Setter who was totally gun shy Any loud noise sent him running for cover, but he had a beautiful loving soul and we cherished him until the day he died at 17. I think of him every day Noem would have shot him for sure. There are not sufficient vile words in the dictionary to describe how I feel about this woman. IMO there is a special place in Hell for people like her. Seeing her in a high position in OUR government disgusts me beyond vocalization.

"The Venezuelans had been granted permission to live and work in the USA by President Joe Biden under Temporary Protected Status (TPS)"

There are the problems and the reasons for all to see:

* Their permission to live in the US came from former Pres Biden, so it ***must*** be overturned;

* They come from a shithole country;

* They plan on trashing America, raping our womenfolk (menfolk and dogs, too), and taking the good jobs that "colored people" traditionally hold;

* They are, like TdA, functioning under the direct orders of Nicolás Maduro.

-----

"the administration has very loudly insisted that Venezuelans and other immigrants just might all be criminal terrorist gangbanger criminals, though of course Trump simply made up out of nothing the lie"

Hey now, show a little respect. The Fulvous Fuckwad doesn't lie, he's just incapable of telling the truth.

-----

"We will note, however, that ICE Nazi Barbie probably isn’t the best legal eagle out there"

True that; she's no Jeanine Pirro.

-----

A couple other points:

> ""You should ask the families of those killed, raped and maimed by gang members if they think the threat these terrorists pose to Americans are 'overstated,'" [Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security] said." https://www.npr.org/2025/04/08/g-s1-58849/tren-de-aragua-presence-reality-check

And while asking the families affected by the "terrorist" activities of TdA (the hoard of TdA gangbangers was estimated by DHS in late 2024 as 600, others put the number over 1000), perhaps Ms McLaughlin would like to ask the families of victims by much larger gangs -- MS-13, the Crips, the Bloods... -- what the affects that these gangs caused.

> "The symbols touted by federal officials as proof of gang membership, including rose and clock tattoos" https://www.npr.org/2025/04/08/g-s1-58849/tren-de-aragua-presence-reality-check

All of the alleged gangbangers were identified in on of two ways: (1) they were fingered by paid informants, who if they wished to continue to be paid they had to produce villains, and (2) by their tats. The problem with #1 is self-evident. The problem with #2 is that no gangs, or very few, have identifying tats (the MS-13 tat Sharpied onto Mr Abrego Garcia's knuckles not withstanding). Having such tats would only make the job of busting them easier for LEOs
