That is what I want to know. Biden has some pauses and halting and he is Totes Unfit!

Trump literally said shit like the revolutionaries took the airports and they bent over backward to excuse it away.

The empty podium was not a mistake. It was a plan.

I went to bed at 8 last night after staying up until 9:30 or 10 the past few weeks. It feels so good to have slept the night through AND wake feeling refreshed. Maybe I'll make it through the day without a nap. Honestly, fibromyalgia would not be so bad if I wasn't and athletic petson who LOVES the gym.

It's the heat that is zapping my energy, really. I walked a total of 12 miles tops in June, down from nearly 100 in May. My goal to walk 600 this year will definitely be smashed after it cools off. I am shooting for closer to 800. The main problem is that the heat aggregates soreness in my feet which makes them feel like I have been standing for 8 hours after a hot mile walk.

Fucking lame and embarrassing.

ETA My point was that I AM SO GLAD TO BE HERE WITH YOU ALL AGAIN!

It's more coming from centrists so no, not the same people.

Weirdly enough, the more progressive types have been the most supportive of him thus far.

My hypothesis is that some blue dogs or former Republicans are on purpose trying to submarine Biden's rather progressive administration, and spreading it around

I like Mark Warner. He is one of my Senators and has done a good job I think. But he was the founder of Nextel. He has a mint in his back yard. Follow the money, always.

I already told him I would be voting for his primary challenger the next election. I ain't the only one- the rank and file are getting pissed at the centrists always caving in to the right, of which this is just another example. They should maybe listen to us, but if not, we will find someone who will.

Popped over to CNN to see the headlines and saw this:

"Dr. Sanjay Gupta says Biden should get cognitive testing"

Which is just a FUCKING BANANAS and INCITFUL. Gupta know damn well that Biden has been screened because of his advanced age and because he has exceptional health care as a career politician.

Second, to the guy saying "Oh, we're running Kamala honestly," no fucking shit, it's a two name ticket. You are ALWAYS running your VP, that's why Hillary and Al Gore both lost.

Part of the issue with Democrats is the perception there aren't any fighters in the party. This is not helping with that perception.

Expand full comment
Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

Did you see the article yesterday that pointed out that the dems are just always the punching bag from BOTH SIDES. You NEVER here the right wing clamoring for their leaders' heads. Perhaps if the further left could find some nongrifting pieces of shit to run, we'd have a more amenable candidate for them.

Expand full comment
PrimerGray's avatar

Did not see that piece but I've known it for a long time. A guy like Fetterman won because A) he's one of them, B) he's a fighter, regardless of whether you agree with his positions on things, he stands his ground. I've convinced Sanders would have beat PAB because he gives the impression that he's a fighter.

We allow it though. I have seen it right here at Wonkette and these are smart people who know things and are interested in politics. But even here we have had people lament how Democrats lieeeeed to them. Because Biden is old? Because the press insists on a narrative? I do not even know, I wandered off and destroyed some weeds at that point.

One thing is for certain: People need to brush up on their history. And we need to stop having conventions in Chicago.

I see Jerry Nadler is among those calling for President Biden to step aside. 77 year old Jerry Nadler. Hey, Jer, did any Democrats call for you to quit when you had a fainting spell? This is you, isn't it, from....let's see, 4 months ago? https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/jerry-nadler-congress-2024-election-age.html

<The towering issue for voters so far this election isn’t the economy or foreign policy but age. Many have voiced concern to pollsters about the number of birthday candles for Donald Trump, 77, and Joe Biden, 81. Already the oldest presidents to ascend to the office, each would break their own record next year. Biden, for instance, would be 86 at the end of his second term, approximately double JFK’s age at swearing-in.

That exact longevity is just what Congressman Jerry Nadler envisions for himself. The 76-year-old says he can “quite possibly” see himself in office for another ten years. “I’m absolutely running again,” he says.

Last year, there were some whispers that Nadler’s service might soon be coming to a close. The signals were certainly there: His chief of staff departed. His wife had been fighting pancreatic cancer. In 2022, he stumbled somewhat during a debate with Carolyn Maloney and 30-something contender Suraj Patel, who decried them both as “1990s Democrats.” The performance helped sustain whispers that he might step aside come 2024, but none of this has moved Nadler, who says he sees himself running for several more terms. Today, he says, his health is “fine” and that his wife’s doctor told her the odds of her cancer “never recurring are 80 to 90 percent.”>

And....<That vulnerability was highlighted with special counsel Robert Hur’s report on Biden’s handling of classified material, which found no need for charges but labeled the president a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory” who had “diminished faculties.” Nadler leaps to the president’s defense. “You don’t want a president who can do the four-minute mile,” he argues. “You want a president who makes the right decisions, drives the economy and drives foreign policy, which he’s done fantastically. And there’s no sign that he won’t continue doing it.”>

A little update on my friend in Arkansas, and why I'm not precisely looking forward to August. In other words, just me yammering:

He's recovering; most recent complaint was his left leg hurting because it's fed up with doing all the work while the stump of his right leg heals. He's also having another friend and some family members running interference for him - fighting the insurance company, working with his Congresscritter, looking after his house and his cat, etc. So, yeah.

Now, he and I and a friend from NYC will usually attend Mephit Furmeet (MFM), a furry con held in the Memphis TN area over the Labor Day weekend. It's a lot of fun, and I normally drive up. That way I see what I want to see and go at my own pace. My friend from NYC usually goes to NW Arkansas and visits before those two drive to MFM. But that was *before* the amputation.

So, instead of driving up, I'm flying to NW Arkansas on 8/22 and renting a vehicle, and will be playing chauffeur and pack mule (because my friend from NYC, who's ten years younger than me, does not have a driver's license).

Sorry; I'm just venting.
