I used to get comfort from picturing how a million birds, at least, would be finding places to live in the sheer darkness and depopulated farms and open fields and abandoned places across the heartland that seemed to be the one good thing about family farms being abandoned and young people moving to the city and suburbs. But I heard that is not what's happening. Not at least with birds. Because of pesticides? I don't know.

What did he mean? It's a good question. Not only did they get away with it, I didn't like it when Democrats started talking about "values" too. I mean, you could say, "what we all believe is important and what we all are ready to fight for." But 'values,' when Republicans started saying it, was like talking about your underwear.
