If you haven't noticed, MAGA is forcing language to self-annihilate its own meaning as the dying movement desperately seeks to thwart anything resembling truth or facts.
ALL protesters against the regime are, by definition, "unhinged"--illegal, violent, deranged...Trump and his minions will summon any word they can grasp. Like vampires, they suck words like "criminal" dry of their actual meaning by applying them relentlessly to folks who've committed no crime.
Their goal: our submission. Words are bludgeons, rendered meaningless by overuse.
There is something I've been thinking for a long time. It applies to Dems as well as Repubs. This story reminded me of it. It's mostly about Presidential races -
ITS NEVER SOMEONE'S ""TURN""!!!
(Sorry for the AllCaps)
This has happened a number of times in the past few elections. HRC ran with little opposition because the Party decided it was "her turn" after she lost the primary to Obama. Biden, then Kamala, were out there for similar reasons.
For that matter, being VP shouldn't automatically make you the leading candidate in the primary. VP candidate is usually chosen more to broaden the ticket's appeal than anything - bring in a swing state, appeal to a demographic that needs shoring up, fit a social justice cause etc. As far as I know the only real jobs are the tie-breaking vote in the Senate and ... and ... hide, to protect continuity of gov't?
Every election should start with a primary and every primary candidate should be considered equally. No more "legacy" families (Kennedys, Bushes). There's 3 legs to support a candidacy IMO - Ethics/morals, competency, & political positions. Ok, a fourth and fifth - personality (electability) and relevant experience.
Religion, race, sex, gender, sexual orientation - these things are irrelevant to me.
I agree, but I can't see any way it could happen because politicians want to hold on to every bit of power they've got. Controlling candidates for elections is a biggy. The Dems and Repubs are private organizations, but they basically control the field. Third parties start with too big a disadvantage. We should get rid of the biased Electoral College, but Repubs like it that way. We should have a single national primary for President, but no politicians want that.
I tried to find additional news info on the Marine Veteran. The only thing I could find was an interview with his mom that included a link to a Go FUnd Me page set up by his wife's cousin. That page had an update that said he is scheduled for surgery on his arm that was fractured in 2 places.
I don't know...sure, this is some minor-league ratfucking but it's legal and it's not Daines' fault that no strong Dems had the balls to run against him. You know what would really help. A coherent 50-state strategy. I remember somebody talking about that once...
Despite the rightward tilt, Zooey Zephyr got elected in Montana. It's possible to win but you can't win if you don't even bother showing up to play.
I don't disagree, but a 50-state strategy would have to consider where it was best to spend limited resources. A seat held by a long-term politician with lots of money could just be a waste of resources.
There is absolutely no gambling going on on those. The fix is very much in, and it is yet another system where the "insiders" can hoover money away from the "outsiders"
I saw where in South Carolina(?) where there is a Democratic governor but republicons have almost a Super majority in the state house, 3 Democrats who had voted with republicons to override vetoes got their asses handed to them in the primary with losses in the 50% range.
That’s North Carolina. North Carolina’s state legislature map is the most gerrymandered in the country. It’s a swing state, but the gerrymandering gives Republicans a supermajority in the state legislature.
“He fucked his own party,” said Tester...
The shocker is that said party isn't even a 14 year old girl.

Ta, Dok. I know it's Montana, but how is this legal? Anywhere?

Beware.
The only way Repubs can 'win' an argument is by changing what words mean.
'Christian' is one bold example. The correct term for most of these guys is HYPOchristian.
Funny that Roll Call article makes no mention of the blatantly obvious.

McGinnis needs to talk to a lawyer. Cops might have qualified immunity, but Sheehy doesn’t.
Why was McGinnis treated so roughly? It's not like he used bear mace or smeared shit on the walls like Trump's pardoned J6ers.

He’s probably being reassigned to Noems’ new department
Hope he doesn't own any dogs he's fond of.
We're calling them “prediction markets” now? “Betting” and “gambling” too lowbrow?

Just like crypto. <Ducks head>
I believe Democrats can compete anywhere if they would stop pandering to the right trying for votes they will never get in a hundred years.
I have some doubts about some small-population states. They are practically cults where voting is concerned.

MELANIA, ARE YOU LISTENING?
(Trump) says its firepower will ‘surge dramatically’ and IDF warns of ‘surprises ahead’, as Iran launches retaliatory strikes
I certainly hope that Sheehy is charged with aggravated assault.
I'm sure the toadies in Trump's DOJ will be right on that as soon as they figure out how to turn their computers on.
I mean what Democrat would survive “broke the hand of a Marine in uniform?”
I heard that the guy's sister's hairdresser's stepdaughter voted for Hillary and then Kamala!
You see, Shaheen and Peters? You guys needed to do this.
