I think that, politically, much more than Schumer's 'leadership' will be over. Democrats, in general, will find theshelves in a public perception bloodbath -- from their own stalwart voters. People won't understand why they gave in. All the reasoning aside ... and I worked in federal budgeting for 30+ years and watched the Rs play shutdown and minority rule ... *I* won't understand why Dems would wring their hands and cave *before* a shutdown, rather than run one for *at least* a few days.
