Wasn't there some Pay-Go law trigger that's going to happen due to how much the tax cuts are going to explode the debt that will MANDATE cuts to Medicare? Is this WFA talk just fig-leafing those cuts?

Maybe they could ask Republican Senator Rick Scott about waste, fraud and abuse. I bet he's got some special knowledge.

Ta, Dok. The Senate wants to cut only waste, fraud, and abuse? They can cut their own fucking pensions and health care, and leave the poor covered. My HIV positive clients (AOT, K) will DIE without Medicaid and Medicare. But maybe that's the idea ....

Republicans are so serious about “waste, fraud, and abuse” that Taco Belle is granting pardons and clemency to people who have been convicted of Medicare fraud.

Just taking a moment to say that I really enjoy the different perspectives and spins the individual Wonkette writers bring to their stories, but it also really tickles me when everyone gets on board a phrase like the Big Beautiful Blowies Bill.

This is what Chat GBT concluded & great to tell representatives!

This is the dress rehearsal for autocracy. If this bill becomes LAW, it will not just change what the government does, it will change what the government is. It is a declaration that only certain people deserve protection, only certain truths can be spoken, and only certain lives are worth investment. This is the type of legislation that autocrats dream of, legal, sweeping, ideologically rigid and dressed in the language of reform. If you believe in democracy, capitalism, justice, or simply the idea that the government should not be a weapon, HR 1 must be buried, not amended, not negotiated but defeated FULLY!

You know, there’s a little thing but as I think about it, it starts to mean something to me. As someone with 30 years working for the government, I know there have ALWAYS been programs to root out wasteful government spending. Not always effective ones, but they’ve existed. But the thing is, those programs were focused on “fraud, waste and abuse,” not “waste, fraud and abuse.”

It seems like a minor discrepancy, but what I think it means is that the current crop of talking heads are basing their dogwhistle not on actual programs which exist here in reality, but on some politico’s fever dreams of the bestest slogan. They “created” the term not to enhance or improve existing systems, but solely to have a talking point they could trot out in press conferences. And to make it look like they have an actual reason for the cruel things they are jizzing to do.

Call me cynical?

I'm just a simple-minded old woman so can someone explain to me why they need new legislation to combat waste, fraud, and abuse? What has kept them from doing that all along?

Because Demo-rats are all about spending spending spending on what they fraudulently call "social programs" and "helping people", and ALL of that is waste, fraud, and abuse by definition, dontcha know?

Will nobody ask the obvious question? If you know about waste, fraud, and abuse then you have their names and addresses because we're writing them checks. Have them arrested or removed. Why cut ALL and claim it's because of some very unspecified waste, fraud, and abuse, when you know the name of the fraudster and their address? Unless, of course, it is all a gigantic "fig leaf" for your abuse. Since the average Senator is worth about $2 million, I can see why they're so enthusiastic about cutting our benefits and enhancing their benefits. It'll be worth $60,000 to $70,000 to them.
