whenI think about all of this stuff going down, it occurs to me that we are privileged (using that word carefully, however) to have a literal front seat to all of it. Without the computer and the Instant Everything it brings us, we would be gathered around a TV at 7 PM to see What Happened. Not as it was happening, but as it did happen possibly overnight or in the afternoon...Unless there was a camera handy (re Kennedy's assassination) we'd be hearing other people's opiinions, reactions, summaries.

We ARE the audience now. Point the camera, turn on the computer, and we get to watch. In a way it's a good thing, we see the reality. In a way it's also not so good. Some reality is, ah, too real.

Words are not in and of themselves, violence. It's how you read them, how you interpret them, sometimes way beyond what the words themselves do or mean. And depending on the day, the speaker, the listener or the mood of the crowd anything can mean anything.

As someone says at times when the house is full of kids and supper is late and the dog just threw up on the new white rug, "I knew this wouldn't end well"...Im seeing more and more violent behavior either threatened or actually happening; it seems to be moving toward something far worse than just Trump Rearranging Furniture in the White House.

Maybe we got complacent? Maybe we didn't read the signs?

Something is out of control and it seems to be escalating. Trump has, without saying it, given people implicit permission to go after anyone they have always been taught not to: women, blacks, asians, people in wheelchairs, the homeless...

I'm glad Im old, and in a few years it won't be my struggle any longer, but I would also like to be around to see how this plays out.

People all across this country have overcome amazing odds to get their kids through school, to finally buy a home and pay it off, get that job you worked so hard for, and now it feels like it no longer matters, those minesweepers are out there, destroying whatever they can find. They've been given permission, and it's all coming out of that well shaken bottle.

Depends on who says the words. Radical leftists’ words are like shuriken, whereas explicit death threats from wingnuts are just free speech, can't you take a joke?

You know, even as a child, I thought that saying "Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words can never hurt you' was bunk. I'm not saying physical violence can't hurt people, of course it can, but words can really, really damage a person, and their psyche, as well.

I'm so tired of maga. Like, to the point that if I never had to share air with them again, that would be great.

And in the immortal words of Depeche Mode "Words like violence, break the silence, come crashing in, into my little world, painful to me, eats right through me..." - "Enjoy the Silence"

Just watched a video of an ICE agent shoving the distraught wife of a man they're kidnapping, body slamming her to the ground, then pointing his finger in her face to rebuke her. That looks like violence to me.

and if she bit that finger she probably would have been arrested for inflicting bodily harm on a government official. Or some such...

Very violent words Robyn! And shame on you for demonizing poor Kristi with her hair extensions (actually a wig-she's bald as a cue ball) and the noble ICE thug army. I expect the righteous forces of law and order will soon disappear you and your next column will be written from a new supermax in Utah they are renaming after Charlie Kirk.

I doubt he wrote "anti" anything on a bullet. These fuckers lie. That is what they do, they lie. Constantly. About everything. Why should we believe them on this?

That’s my first thought with any statement coming from any part of government, whether it’s about a killer or the corn yields in Ohio.

"He wrote “Anti-ICE” on a bullet he didn’t fire, so clearly, he was inspired by things people were saying about ICE, while somehow missing the fact that the correct terminology would be “FUCK ICE” or “MELT ICE” or “ABOLISH ICE.” Makes sense!"

I have zero confidence that the shooter himself inscribed that cartridge. That looks like something Patel tasked an agent with.

One thing I did notice, and he does a LOT of this: Trump is always right there to comfort the grieving widow (s) or whatever female happens to be in line next. I would be in the next COUNTY if I saw him coming after me...brrrr

They are not victims, they are "snowfakes". Mock them, laugh at them, ridicule them, make fun of them. It might go against your ethics and sense of fairness, but this is our most effective weapon in our armory. If you refuse to go after them with humor, then it's time for you to get out your pikes and prepare for violence.

I think it's easier to deal with hurt feelings than serious injuries. But we can't just forego a means to fight and resist just because it goes against our normal ethics.
