"For years, the anti-abortion rights contingent has tried to portray abortion as something women do on a whim, or because they are pressured by other people, and that they would not choose if they really thought about it. This is the thought behind waiting periods and transvaginal ultrasounds and all the other nonsense...". THIS.
Planning a trip that takes several days and coordination with clinic/lodging etc. does tell you that it's not a whim and we're well aware of our decision.
Right? Like, I've never understood the concept of overbooking a flight... let alone most flights. Flights are expensive and inconvenient. Do people really just blow them off that much?!
My Roman Catholic Aunt who died in her 90s a couple of years ago - was a nurse in Portland, OR - and she thought abortions should be safe and accessible - she would talk about in the before-before times (before Roe) she would help women get flights to Japan for abortions.
Who doesn't just get the urge every once in a while to just, for no reason, jump on a Greyhound bus and ride 377 miles to one of them hellhole big cities and have a clump of cells removed from inside their bodies?

In other words, they wanted to be the ones pressuring women.
If the number of abortions increased by 25,660, accounting for 68% of its overall increase, how many private plane flights to exotic vacation locales did Justice Clarence Thomas receive from Harlan Crowe this year?
Even in a blue state, I had to ask the doctor if they knew if any pharmacies in the area were refusing to dispense misoprostal. My very much wanted embryo had no cardiac activity and was shrinking, but I didn't want to have to explain that to the pharmacy.
For what it's worth, regarding your "not ideal" comment, my experience with just misoprostal was....fine, as these things go. In my situation, I didn't really have a need to stop development, but I would imagine at a similarly early spot in development it would be a similar experience. I also genuinely got a kick out of the included paperwork about stomach ulcers.
I am sorry for the loss of your wanted pregnancy, and I am also sorry for you having to be worried about dealing with that loss in the medically appropriate way.
oh i love this so much. i did ACA outreach work for several years (i'm back corporate now). my team was based in uptown and we often worked with howard brown and they were in fact very very entitled.
also i spent '14 to '19 biking up and down clark street from loop to evanston. miss those days!
A friend's niece got pregnant just after her 18th birthday, one month before she was to head to university. I attended a party where her born-again stepmother was holding forth about how she was so glad she'd talked the niece into not getting an abortion, because that would have "ruined her life."
Flash forward 10 years. The stepmom is a total alcoholic living in a trailer in a particularly awful California Central Valley city. The niece lives there too and has never attended university and now has three kids and is anti-vaxx and totally MAGA .
It's the NOT having an abortion that ruins a life.
Vote Democrat as if your life depended on it - - - because it does.

Ta, Robyn. Some things never change.
Soon they'll try to pregnancy test women leaving their bumpkin states.
Temperature sensors to cull the 'suspects' then a mandated test with a matron.
Watch...
Weird how people just don’t show up for their flights. You’re checked in, you passed through security, are you just hanging out at the airport bar?
My friend had an ex who missed his flight on two different occasions because he was at the airport bar.
Right? Like, I've never understood the concept of overbooking a flight... let alone most flights. Flights are expensive and inconvenient. Do people really just blow them off that much?!
If the company pays for them why bother to cancel?
I was overbooked and made 500 bucks in airfare.
Going to Mexico in December if Wonks want to do a Monterrey, Mexico meet-up!
The “young lady” was 12.

She was the Hero we didn't know we needed....
Thanks Robyn.

And some of them might even get an abortion, too.

Home schooler new math:

"Jesus loves Trump and America is a Christian nation. White Christian males alone decide what "math" means. Amen."

Thank you <3 I was not hassled at the pharmacy and, two months after my loss, got pregnant again and now have a six month old.

It's the NOT having an abortion that ruins a life.
It's what they want - unabated births and women without agency in any aspect of their lives.
women without agency in any aspect of their lives.
This is the aim.
And if you think this will give them pause, you are not paying attention.
If women are half as pissed off about this as I am (and I'm sure they are) Republicans are in for a huge defeat this election.
THEY don't CARE....there are some place we cannot win right now and they will suffer....
Clearly, FREEDOM requires ending women’s ability to travel.
Naw their FREEDOM is SLAVERY.
Communism didn't work because it wasn't as pure as it needed to be. We just need to try harder.
