The most upsetting thing is that doing a minimal amount of research will show that a lot of these grifters like RFK Jr. are either malicious or incompetent.

Doing any amount of research shows that the narrative around ivermectin curing everything from COVID to cancer is incredibly flimsy.

“What will anti-vaxers do with this new data?”

They will ignore it, just like everything else they don’t understand or agree with with. That was a gimme question.

It disgusts me that the CDC is withdrawing access to vaccines for a disease that has literally killed millions of Americans because their base has managed to convince themselves those vaccines are “bad.”

I saw where Brainworm was back peddlaing on Tylenol causing Autism after Texas filed a lawsuit against Tylenol with him as their star witness. "Wait, I might be held accountable for what I said.... umm in that case ....."

Zyxomma's avatar

Ta, Robyn. I never use the word hysterical because of the original meaning. Wandering Wombs might make a good band name, but it never had any basis in reality. Neither does anything Brainworm Bobby believes.

One medical fact I consider IS well established.

RFK Junior is a dangerous, arrogant crank with too much power and not nearly enough real qualifications for his job.

Like President Trump himself.

Virgin Monk Boy's avatar

The irony writes its own gospel. The crowd that cried “trust your instincts” is now choking on the data. It turns out the real danger was never the vaccine, it was the virus they treated like a vibe.

Science keeps doing what faith should have done, protecting life instead of performing purity.

Betty D's avatar

He is an ignorant ASS with no business telling anyone anything about vaccines, science wise or otherwise. I hope every Doc in the US sues him out of office.

If you want to hear all the crazy shit they formerly thought of women’s reproductive system I highly HIGHLY recommend reading “Vagina Obscura”. Woo boy. All the stupid shit they thought. It also covers Dr who are rebuilding clitorises for those who have been mutilated or creating them for transition surgeries as well.

Some of the older women around here surely remember the debate during the Bush years about "legitimate rape", right?

Like it couldn't be rape if you were unconscious, or if you didn't get beaten to a pulp and left on the side of the road, for example.

This came about when Republicans were trying to ban abortion and they were discussing "exceptions"...

Sherry's avatar

Yeah that was pretty repugnant along with the guy who basically said that women should enjoy it and also that they cannot get pregnant through rape.

Sko Hayes's avatar

And the guy who said that if women can get abortions, men should be able to rape women.

"If a woman has a right (to abortion), why shouldn't a man be free to use his superior strength to force himself on a woman? At least the rapist's pursuit of sexual freedom doesn't, in most cases, result in anyone's death."

justifiable's avatar

It takes so little for that mask to come off.

FloridaFloozy's avatar

I seem to remember some idiot congressman stated that women couldn't get pregnant from rape because their bodies would "reject the pregnancy". I also remember, at about the same time, a young woman arguing with a congressman for birth control pills to be covered under insurance. The crusty old congressman stated, " Why do you need to take birth control everyday if your not having sex everyday? " Politicians should stay out of healthcare decisions.

justifiable's avatar

You want super fucking stoopid? Rep. Vito Barbieri of Idaho wanted to ban a bill for getting abortion meds through telemedicine, since if women swallowed a camera their doctors could conduct a remote gynecological exam. Because everyone knows the digestive tract is linked to the female reproductive system, which is why women shit out of their vaginas.

These are the bone-deep-levels-of-dumb people making legislation affecting our healthcare.

Sko Hayes's avatar

I remember that!!

"This study obviously poses quite a dilemma for RFK Jr and others who share his very stupid and poorly thought-out ideas." No, no dilemma whatsoever. These are deeply dishonest people who are willing to throw away anything and everything that does not align perfectly with their worldview. And if they do not throw it away, they will just lie and claim that it supports whatever bullshit they are currently spouting.

John Santos's avatar

There is something called a "pious fraud", where someone knowingly lies to further some aim they regard as more important than the truth. The religious connotations of "pious" are deliberate, since most of the original pious frauds were promoting religion through such things as fake miracles, Jesus appearing on a piece of toast, etc., but the concept applies to any deliberate deception for a "greater good", which is almost invariably something horrible.

Old Man Yells at Cloud's avatar

Actually Brainworm's ideas are very well thought out for his goal. He saw companies that made money money and so he and his buddies sued them to get some. Everything he is doing now is to further his buddies' lawsuits.

So. Stopped in at the Hive (A Cheboygan Cider bar) to see Mallory McMorrow, who claims to know Rebeccah. Now, getting folks to come up here campaigning for Senator, just below da Bridge, is not easy. I'm inclined to vote and work for anybody willing to come up here, but this year there are two of them competing for the Primary. And, they're both good! But Mallory claims she knows Rebeccah, and that's good enough for me!...Also, she's for universal health...

I am sorry, did you say “Harvard researchers” or “Harvard study”?

Therein lies the problem, it is obviously fake news, we all know Harvard researchers are biased because they hate Trump and are also in the pocket of big Pharma.

Just how awful was that 60 Minutes "interview" with Trump? It was this awful:

https://newsletters.democracydocket.com/60-minutes-obeys-in-advance

Sadly, CBS and "60 Minutes" are already sinking into the MAGA mire. Like Bezos, Ellison thinks he can buy instant credibility by selling his right-wing bullshit under the banner of a formerly-respected brand. What happens, of course, is that the brand goes down the drain.

Old Man Yells at Cloud's avatar

Like SNL, 60 minutes started circling the bowl when the original cast left.

Mike Johnson: "These blue states have abused the SNAP program just like they've abused Medicaid and so many other government programs."

Majordomo Billy Bojangles's avatar

What he means is that people in blue states, who are obviously all Democrats, should not be allowed to benefit from public social programs.

If they don't like that they can change party affiliation and move elsewhere.

noname's avatar

Sick, punitive, controlling fucker just like the rest of them.

Chimp's avatar

Technically he's right.

The amount of legitimate fraud in SNAP and Medicaid and so many other government programs are equivalent: statistically insignificant.

I Stedman's avatar

Not quite true - the vast majority of such fraud is being committed by health insurance companies, not patients nor their doctors.

But they aren't poor brown people, so invulnerable.

Chimp's avatar

Yeah, duly noted, I should have been clearer but I'm so damn tired of the poop flinging that for once I didn't want to play.
