Unbelievably cruel , shameful, and wrong. As a Social Worker, I have witnessed how poor children thrive in Head Start and are better prepared for school in every way. Parents also thrive . They feel supported and increase their parenting skills.—Maybe a billionaire can fund Head Start.

MAGA doesn't want kids who do better in school. MAGA wants kids who do worse. "The Less You Know..."

Head start is great, it helps so many kids. What is wrong with these people: have lots of kids, but then fuck you?

MAGA will be VERY slow to learn. If at all. After all, no head start.

My first job at 15 was a summer volunteer assistant at Head Start. I learned so much! Like there was a whole side of town I'd never seen where people lived in shacks. And kids who'd never seen an escalator and were terrified to get on when we took a field trip.

And of course simply acknowledging the existence of that side of town in Trumpworld is to be a promoter of "DEI", or, as Pam Bondi would put it, a criminal.

Pam Bondi IS a deeply unscrupulous and unethical individual who appears to be doing her best to COMMIT crimes because she believes she controls the country's enforcement apparatus and as a result will never get caught.

Don't get me started.

In that regard I supppose we could view Trump as the "Great Equalizer" It seems to be his mission to make sure all of us are living in shacks and starving. His goal is to transform Reagan's "Shining City on the Hill" into Trump's "Shantytown down by the River"

“…and think all “child welfare funding [should] be used for marriage and relationship education.”

Ok, Marcie if I wasn’t pissed off by now (which I definitely am), now I am. I am a 73-year old pacifist progressive who hasn’t touched a gun since I shot my only chickadee at age 8 with a BB gun, but I’m ready to go kill these fuckers. It’s on. I imagine all 65 million of us manning the ships in Monty Python’s “Meaning of Life,” throwing the bastards Musk Rat incels out the fucking skyscraper windows.

Just imagine what the world might become if the rich just decided to share SOME of their ill-gotten gains with the neediest among us….yeah, what a fucking stupid idea.

Come and get me, christoNazis.

Jesus, by all accounts, loved, defended, and respected women. He saved the adultress from stoning and chased the money changers out of the temple. Mary, "the Magadalene" was his constant copmpanion and close advisor, perhaps even his main financial support. Itinerant Prophet was not a profitable profession. His ""Main Squeeze" in archaic hippie lingo. BTW she was not a reformed prostitue. That label was affixed to her centuries later to diminutize her prominence in establishing the early Christian religion. . A "Magdalene" was a woman of independent means, near roaylty, not a prostitute Without Mary and other prominent women there would be no Christian faith today. Just as there would probably not be an Islam withouit Aisha. This is all your fault, ladies! LOL!!

When I use the word Jeebus, I don't mean Jesus. I mean the way Christian Right crazies garble his words, or just ignore him.

Thank you for your thoughtful response.

I am familiar with the actual Jesus part of the Bible, even though I am not a Christian. Matthew was a book I understood, unlike the violent parts.

Hisorical fact, as far as we can tell. the early Christian faith was dominated by women they did all of the heavy lifting to get it started, and then the boyz took over. Typical.

I have an acquaintance who studies women and their role in Jesus 's following and through the second century of Christianity. It's interesting to me how none of it ever became common knowledge. I am no scholar, but I have read some Christian history. It puts the Bible in perspective.

The Bible, as we know it, was put together by a group of politicians under the direction of the Emperor Constantine at the council of Nicea in 312 AD. Hardly the word of "God", but rather a compilation suitable to be the guide book for the official state supported religon of Rome.

I wouldn't tie the development of the canon to Nicea. It took much longer for the so-called New Testament to develop. Nicea was more concerned with defining heretical teachings. The NT canon was still in flux in the 16th century when both the Council of Trent and the Lutheran/Protestant movements developed their own lists of proto-canonical and deutero-canonical works. Excuse me for being picky....

He said of them:

"I like your Christ, but not your Christians,. because, they are so unlike your Christ"

In the past 100 years, the United States has made incredible advances in social justice, equality for all, economic stability and fair treatment of ALL persons. WE became Reagan's "Shining City on the Hill" So of course people longed to come here. TRump and his insane clown posse have managed to destroy a good portion of it in less than 100 days. Reagan's "Shining City on the Hill" is being reduced to Trump's "Dirty Shack by the River" These poeple are sick, stupid, perverted weirdos. Enough already They must be stopped!

Getting rid of Head Start means that children gain fewer skills and leave them more vulnerable to unscrupulous employers that exploit them;

...parents that exploit them;

...and the start of a lifelong lack of critical thinking that begats more death cultists.

Gilded Age 2.0 + Taney Court 2.0 is a very bad time. And one thing we must always remember, progress is very fragile. Sadopopulism is very appealing because it's easy...it proffers easy solutions of hurting people to make life better. So a lot of the people supporting the unreconstructed party went along with these cuts because they believe it'll hurt "lazy" Black people more. Some others believe that maybe this benefits "immoral" women in some way. Whatever the reason, there's many ways to reach ten after all...it all has the same benefits to the unreconstructed in the end.
