“Perhaps he didn’t have the courage of other priests, but he never collaborated with the dictatorship,” Adolfo Perez Esquivel, who won the 1980 Nobel Peace Prize for documenting the junta’s atrocities, said Thursday. “Bergoglio was no accomplice of the dictatorship. He can’t be accused of that,” Perez Esquivel told Radio de la Red in Buenos Aires.

I'm sorry, Rebecca, but "He wasn't a collaborator, he just let the junta get on with things" is a reasonable description of the man on the street, but not really a ringing endorsement for a Pope.

Are you using your jerb's WiFi? They may be pulling the plug on unapproved sites. Try the freeper site and see if that works. :-))

An iPad or (non-hipster) Surface might be a nice solution, if you've got the shekels.

Next pope will be a mere sympathizer. It takes them a while to gradually change things -- this is why the R.C.C. is always 300 years behind the times.

Conventional wisdom ... and the unbroken chronology of the popes' reigns. No room for a Pope Joan, unless you think John XI was a bit on the flouncy side.

I don't know about Japan, but look at who did the out-kicking in those other places: the R.C.C.
