actually it's the fault of the assistant stage manager or talent wranglers of the A/V company doing their show. I never let talent onstage with their name tag on if there's IMAG nor with their cell phone on their person unless they prove that's it is physically turned off

you wouldn't believe how tight security is at conventions these days. All personnel, even tech crew, usually need name tags and quite often they are bar coded and scanned at the door. This is both for security and is an easy way to gauge attendance (if you're going to pay for peeps to go to some fancy destination resort and pay for all the meetings, you don't want them going golfing or to the beach instead). Believe it or not industrial espionage is quite prevalent these days, companies routinely spy on each other to gain an advantage. It's to the point where it's SOP to shred all documents at the end of a show, keep a tight grip on all media pertaining to the event and it's even sometimes required to sign NDA's. Silly stuff like this module are meaningless, but often the meat and potatoes of these meetings are confidential revenue discussions and corporate strategy and those would be quite valuable to a competitor.

Not the ones I do. Obviously, if you know your way around it's easy to beat security, but most of the shows I'm involved with these days are all about scanning badges, shredding paperwork and trying to keep a tight handle on who has access.
