" … Gorsuch … pointed out to me that he is a co-author of a whole book on precedent. So … ."So? So what did he have to say about precedent in his book? Or didn't you bother to read it before you voted to confirm him, Senator?

Roberts has pleasantly surprised me a few times, which leads me to think he's not as doctrinaire as the Grumpy Old-folks Party had hoped when he was confirmed. Still a bit too far to the right of center for my tastes, but hope springs eternal.

Or they'll promise her that they'll pass some pet legislation for her.

She's getting several packages of wire hangers, as is Murkowski, to remind them of what it was like before Roe v Wade. And what it will be like again if they allow Dampnut to nominate an anti-choice judge.

No, it's the English language.

I and the OP understand that she is Senator Collins, not "Susan."

Why? Because language matters, and female Senators are no less Senators, than are male Senators.

It's the basic sexism of this diminutive that pisses me off sometimes.

The OP made it clear that to me she/he had other, non-demeaning reasoning for the phrasing of her/his comment.

I'm good now.

But I'm not good with the constant diminutives in our language; calling females by their first name, but males by their last.

What? This is America. Our elected officials aren't royalty. They have to earn our respect every single day. Susan is either a disingenuous demon who goes along with the hardcore right-wing agenda and then claims they lied to her, or she's the biggest imbecile in Washington that her colleagues lie to over and over for their own gain because they know they can.

Either way, I got no problem demeaning her until she actually proves herself by announcing that she will only caucus with the Democrats until the Republicans clean up their act and start following the rule of law.

One of the things I've noticed is that a lot of the people advising the Democratic Party on what they should and shouldn't do if they hope to be successful don't want the Democratic Party to be successful.

Please listen to yourself, people.

I don't know who's louder or more annoying: the people yelling "FUCKIN' LEFTIST BERNIEBRO PURITY PONIES, THIS IS ALL THEIR FAULT FOR SITTING OUT THE FIGHT", and the people yelling "FUCKIN' DLC CLINTONITE CENTRISTS, THIS IS ALL THEIR FAULT FOR NOT FIGHTING HARD ENOUGH".

You're both yelling past each other and ensuring you both lose.

Fed up with our "undecided" voters. If you can't look at the next election and pick a side, you're too fucking rudderless to live.

Remember that Maine was made up of people who couldn’t get along with the Massachusetts folks. They’ve always been a bit different. Collins is in line with that, but tries, albeit unsuccessfully, to appeal to the spectrum. LePage (R: Library Paste) is an anomaly even for Maine, alas.
