The Corrupt Supreme 6 are so disgusting, so revolting…I can’t believe they represent the US Judicial Branch…and us. JHFC!

Good god! Why don't they just say "all women should die"?? Vote, people vote.

Ta, Robyn. Let's get out the vote for Harris-Walz and Ds down ballot. Lives are at stake.

Well, of course 6 of them don't want to deal with it now, because it would hurt the Republican Party that put them in their seats to do the work of the Republican Party.

Yes, the poor little dears are just so 𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥 of dealing with that dreary abortion issue! Why can't the peasants just sort things out for themselves and let the justices get back to their elaborate all-expenses-paid vacations.

"Settled law," means just that. It's over and done now follow the rules. Their punt to "let 'em have states" means there is no rule. Every damn situation which might involve an abortion, or denial of one, is a ticket to litigation and a trip to the Big Casino legal roulette wheel. Crazy. Just fucking crazy.

They will revisit this issue in an odd numbered year for reasons.

"Three judges on the Fifth Circuit found that EMTALA “does not mandate medical treatments, let alone abortion care, nor does it pre-empt Texas law,” which does seem to defeat the entire purpose of the federal law."

Don't we have a constitutional amendment for this? One of the original ones, not one of the newfangled ones that make old white male justices so upsetti spaghetti?

Expand full comment

The 2A would seem to apply. Not that I'm advocating violence ... but that Amendment was about reining in an out-of-control government, and the judicial branch sure as hell seems to qualify these days.

The Federalist/fascist six are abominations.

If the illegitimate and corrupt Supremes are not in a rush to nail the coffin shut on a widely known emergency medical procedure, a cynical person might just conclude that doing so would jeopardize the return to power of their patrons and fellow beneficiaries of the unfettered flow of dark money. Fortunately, the readers here and the stenographers of the MSM are not so jaded as to doubt the serene, even-handed justice from John Roberts' merry little gang.

Does anyone actually believe that Republican candidates, particularly TRump, have great concern for the "unborn? if you are "pro-life", focus on ending wars. homelessness and starvation. Lets take care of all the people who are already here before worrying so much about the ones who haven't arrived yet

“'The unborn' are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus, but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.”

And yet, not ONCE can I recall a member of the MSM asking that very question.

"If you wish to cloak yourself in the righteousness of being 'pro-life', where is your support of gun regulations? The affordability and availability of health care? your votes against war and support for nations who make war? Your speeches denouncing the death penalty? Your railing against those who would play politics with disaster relief funding? Or are you just a fucking liar who is more than willing to take advantage of the fact that we in the MSM are timid little mice who chase crumbs rather than do our jobs of pursuing the truth and shining a light on injustice?"

I know an uber-Catholic family with NINE kids. I find it hard to believe that the Dad - the sole breadwinner in the family and in the Army - would want his wife to DIE rather than receive abortion care. I mean, who is going to provide care for his NINE kids, especially once he is a single parent without someone to take care of them once he is called up and is therefore losing his military readiness and job as well?

Everyone thinks it's always someone else's partner/daughter/mother/friend who would be theoretically expendable for the sake of anti-abortion fervor, but who in their right mind who is faced with that actual situation is going to let the living human being they know DIE for the sake of an embryo or a fetus? I don't wish ill on random people, but there are times where I secretly hope (that's not the right word - I genuinely don't hope for something like this) that something horrible DOES happen to one of these legislator's or judge's direct family members so that they can see up close what they have done.

I grew up in a large, seven-children Irish Catholic family. My mother was pregnant eleven times in thirteen years. (My sister and I often state that dad needed a hobby.) There was a time when dad told the parish priest that he didn’t support the idea of sacrificing the mother for the sake of the child due to be born. He told the priests that his other children needed their mother and that he could always make another infant.

Sometimes it is only that close personal experience with something that can give someone empathy and sympathy. So I agree, I can't hope they'll experience it, but I'm not sure how else they come to understand what other people may be going through.

As they've consistently demonstrated, the only way Rs change their mind is if something bad happens to them. Mother F*ers.

No, not even then. q.v. masking and vaccines.

"Who in their right mind who is faced with that actual situation is going to let the living human being they know DIE for the sake of an embryo or a fetus?"

Best not to ask, because HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people in this country would absolutely raise their hand and say, "Yes. I will. I will let my female family member die for the sake of a fetus. Proudly and righteously, in full confidence that Jesus approves of my decision."

(Except, yes, "in their right mind" would be arguable)

THIS is why the personal decision should never have gone to the states. This is the reason why the GQP pushed it to the states.
