I notice that the advertising blitz telling us that Gorsuch is the swellest judge ever and should be approved immediately has started up again, at least in my area. Lots more of that dark money in play.

Doesn't the phrase "nom Neil Gorsuch" require the disclaimer "with votes"? Plus, all that corporate favoritism just ruins the meat anyway.

He's only against the sale of lives because they haven't found a way for DuPont to own them yet.

Ours was a revolution BY the aristocracy. Where do you think "the pursuit of happiness" came from? In every other formulation of Anglo-American law, the interests protected, on which the government dare not tread without due process of law, are life, liberty and PROPERTY (e.g., 5th and 14 Amendments).

But the leaders of the American Revolution did not want to suggest that commoners had any inalienable right to own property. And that's what these tea party, trumpfuck trash don't understand about America: Most people's lives have gotten better and better since the time of the Revolution.

In 1776 America, if you were not a landed nobleman, you were essentially a serf. Those were not the good old days. Average life expectancy was 34, and those were 34 painful, shitty years for most. Try pursuing happiness wearing the same clothes until they fell off, with no teeth, untreated boils and unhealed broken bones, knowing the next case of the runs will probably kill you. Rally 'round the flag, boys!

The good old days were made of social security, Medicare and Medicaid, federally protected civil rights, OSHA, free public education -- needless and oppressive guvmint regulations and taxes. And the people who don't want you to know that are the same ones who didn't want you thinkin' you had any right to property in the first place.

I truly love that there will always be someone here smarter than I who can put things in a way where I think - YES THAT.

So.. YES THAT.

Preaching to the choir here. The biggest problem with ignorant tea party types is that they are too stupid to recognize class warfare for what it is, and are all too eager to fight for the side that's holding them down.
