Symbolic Resolution to Face Symbolic End

A number of GOP Senators have called on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign, even more admit to being quite troubled by his role in the US Attorneys scandal, and obviously all the Democrats would like to see him run out of town on a rail, so obviously the Senate's no-confidence vote against Gonzo is set to die during a test vote today.
It was something like two weeks ago when Arlen Specter was predicting the hasty resignation of the shamed AG immediately following the near-unanimous passage of the resolution, but then Paris Hilton went to jail and everyone forgot why they were even mad at Al.
The full text of the bill: "It is the sense of the Senate that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales no longer holds the confidence of the Senate and of the American people." Observers say the resolution would have a much better chance of passing if it was amended to include a provision calling for something to be named after Robert Byrd.
