My local 135 (mostly out of Indiana) had one straw poll in May with something like maybe 30 people in attendance (out of 1000s of members) and did not hold another one after Harris entered the race. I am not going to speak for other Locals but that is what happened in mine

11 Local Unions and Joint Councils- representing one million (of 1.3 million) Teamsters have endorsed the Harris Campaign in 24 hours.

Endorsements Include Teamsters in Critical Swing States of PA, WI, MI, NV.

The puts into question the stated reason that the Teamsters Union Executive Board gave for not endorsing Harris. In a discussion with AOC Teamster's president Sean O'Brian claimed that teamsters in her district "voted overwhelmingly Republican to support former President Trump." In point of actual fact, the teamsters of NY 14 voted overwhelmingly to endorse the Harris/Walz ticket.

Why is he lying?

So, Sean "sent it back to the States". Boy does that sound familiar.

Publicity wise, getting a large number of endorsements from smaller union organizations gets Harris a lot more publicity than a single endorsement from the Teamsters overlal.

The people doing the endorsing represent and are people known in their communities. While a national endorsement is cool, having someone you know say why they are voting for a candidate is more persuasive.

I was happy to see that the union I retired from, Operating Engineers, endorses Harris/Walz.

OT somewhat, but I love the fact that Ms Harris always looks so joyful and happy to be here (wherever here is). She truly seems to love her job, and truly seems to want her new job for all the right reasons (making things better for Americans and America). I can’t picture in my wildest nightmares Assmouth feeling joy for anything that wasn’t pure loathsome grossness.

Vlad's up for giving $400,000/week to lame-ass podcasters. What do you think he'd shell out for a Teamsters prez?

Things like this have contributed to a negative impression of unions and blue collar workers for the "middle class". JMO but I think it's led to a lot of people shying away from pursuing a career in the trades. There's a perception that union/blue collar workers value their bigotry more than anything. They vote against their own interests as long as it hurts minorities and women. Why would any non-bigot want to work in that environment?

Just me rambling while I avoid doing my own work. I support labor but have been thinking the past couple days why I did not see much support for unions in my middle class Midwest experience.

Interestingly, right after O'Brian's statement 11 local and state Teamsters orgs (representing the vast majority of Teamsters evidently) endorsed Harris/Walz.

I'm not a mind reader but I sense O'Brien is angry OHJB willingly stepped aside and made sure the girl got the top spot instead of holding her back so the boys could "compete fairly" for her position. Just spit balling. No proof.
