When they showed "Roots" they played it backwards, so it would have a happy ending!

I wish at the end that Lloyd Bridges character had been trussed up for a whipping. They didn't actually have to lash him. Once his hands were tied I think he would have peed in his pants. That would have made the point.

It's a sign of the Washington Post's liberal bias that they use Cohen to represent the voice of the right.

Between the wars? The Poles don't think so, or the French, or the British, or the Dutch, or the Belgians, or even the Russians. Or the Germans, Czechs or Italians. Actually, not quite as well defined as you make it seem. Lend/lease was in place by Dicky's DOB, and American volunteers were flying for the RAF, RCAF, Chinese Air Force, and fighting in the Canadian and British armies. FDR was already pushing hard against the isolationists and Nazi sympathizers who wanted to keep the US out of the war that was raging on four continents (plus involvement of troops from Canada and a couple of naval skirmishes in South American waters).

Pearl Harbor was a very long way from the start of the war, is the point.
