Texas elected GOP thought bubble:"I owe this guy money or he owes me money. If I vote to convict, am I more likely or less likely to a) get the money he owes me b) not have to pay him back?"

I kinda have the impression that "rank corruption permeates" pretty much all state legislatures, but maybe that's just me...

Never had to lock up the cat box to keep a CAT from snatching hors d'oeuvres. Any creature that eats cat shit is of very questionable mental acuity. period.

he got some further bad news this week as the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals returned the securities case to Houston. Paxton was indicted in Collin County in 2015, but prosecutors removed the case citing Paxton's popularity in the jurisdiction which he'd represented in the Legislature for 10 years. This latest ruling reversed an intermediate appellate court which pushed the trial back to Collin CountyI might be misreading something here, but Houston is mostly in Harris County. Collin is in Dallas/Plano's neck of the woods.

Not sure that his winning the venue fight is bad news for him, other than it revives the case which is definitely bad news for him. Interesting timing that they brooded over the case for 8 years and just now made a decision, huh.
