"significant" or "meaningful" would be better.

"Impactful" isn't a word

The Republicans have gone mad: quite mad. All of them. Despiting the endless, artful "bothsidesing" and normalization from the Beltway press, it's just simply the case that the whole bloomin' GOP has gone over the cliff. Unfortunately, the rest of us are chained to them, and the chains are padlocked, so it will take superpowers to save us.

You have to understand that the state government here spends an awful lot of time trying to undo whatever Texas city governments do, because Texas Republicans mostly hate the majority of Texans. Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso all get this treatment. So while this seems crazy, it’s absolutely unsurprising to those of us who live here.

If you live in a liberal city and it hasn't been demonized and punished by petty republican state officials, congrats, your state isn't broken - yet.

Texas being Texas, this will probably propel him into the governor’s mansion.
