You have to understand that the state government here spends an awful lot of time trying to undo whatever Texas city governments do, because Texas Republicans mostly hate the majority of Texans. Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso all get this treatment. So while this seems crazy, it’s absolutely unsurprising to those of us who live here.
