Ken Paxton has that resting smirkface look shared with Matt Gaetz and a few other truly depraved, irredeemably evil hard right conservatives.

Ta, Marcie. I lived in Houston for 16 months in the mid-1970s. I've never gone back to TX, and more than likely never shall. TX Republicans are the worst Republicans, although these days they have way too much competition.

So I went out on a search of this. 2, or 3, or 4 (depending on who you read) of those raided at gun point were 70-87 year old women in their nightgowns, early in the morning. Ken Paxton is a vile human. The rest of the story is just as disgusting. This is the south rising again, history repeating itself. DOJ needs to be involved immediately.

Wow, Abbott is a pissant of the worst variety. If he were blind and palsied he’d still manage to fuck voters over by allowing himself to make a big X as a ballot signature and declare it was perfectly legal.

My lovely, retired mother used to winter in Corpus Christi, years ago when my dad was alive. She asked me recently if she should rent a condo there again. I said, “sure, you can spend the winter where you want.” She asked if I’d visit, and I said no way. I’m never setting foot in Texas again.

I feel the same way about Texas and Florida as well.

Florida breaks my heart, because I lived there for a couple years in my early thirties and I love many things about it. The smell of the air and the sound of the ocean made me happy. I try to remember that nobody owns Florida. Ron D and his terrible administration are a sad, temporary feature. Florida will still be beautiful in many ways long after he’s gone. Texas? They can have Texas. They should build a wall around Texas and dump all the MAGA true believers there. Make Ted Nugent President of Texas. What could go wrong?

It’s hard to believe Ken Paxton exists. He’s so sinister, corrupt and creepy to look at, he seems more like an evil villain played by 1970’s era Laurence Olivier, except Olivier was handsome and talented.

He's like Snidely Whiplash, tying damsels to train tracks to get their fortunes. Except that when the trusty Texas authorities come to save the day, they steal her purse and tie her up even more.

Ken Paxton sure does enjoy being an asshole. Long before Donald John Trump came along, he had embraced Ken McElroy of Skidmore MO as is lifetime role model.

Ken Rex got what he deserved. He abused and bullied everybody and thus had no friends to help find his killer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_McElroy

He's twice-indicted on securities fraud and tax evasion. He's supposed to be in jail.

But instead, he's doing community service ...

... while Crystal Anderson, who just tried to vote and who made a mistake, escaped jail after being there but also has some prosecutor friends of Ken Paxton's trying to put her back inside.

Ken McElroy's corpse? As explained by Ambrose Bierce:

HOMICIDE, n. The slaying of one human being by another. There are four kinds of homicide: felonious, excusable, justifiable, and praiseworthy, but it makes no great difference to the person slain whether he fell by one kind or another -- the classification is for advantage of the lawyers.

He wouldn't have been able to get those essentially-for-harassment warrants at all had John Roberts not gotten rid of the pre-clearance provisions in the Shelby County case (in 2013, folks, that's how long some of us have been yelling about this) because he said "we don't have racism anymore in this country"

“Cecilia Castellano is running for a seat in the 80th district, Uvalde, against former Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin Jr. It’s a hot one because Texas Republicans are itching to pass a school voucher bill next legislative session, so they can funnel tax dollars to private religious schools and help drown public education in a bucket. It’s just one of many services that Texas Republicans would like to provide that are as popular as their dysfunctional power grid.” 🤔

Where was that cool Bexar County Sheriff--the one who spoke so rousingly at the DNC last week--when Paxton got this evil scheme off the ground and into innocent people's homes? Was there any local pushback from law enforcement or politicians? (And, y'know, the whole Venn diagram thing that seems to apply more and more with these groups...You can throw Christian clergy persons in there too.)

Ken Paxton is evil.

"Where was that cool Bexar County Sheriff"

Bexar, along with Harris, is a heavily Democratic county where currently state officials are monkeying around with residents' drivers' licenses since that is one form of voter ID that is accepted in Texas

One of my friends had trouble just last week renewing her license and we went deeper and discovered they are deliberately messing around with the records ... taking a leaf out of the Georgia "attempted voter suppression" playbook

“we can’t tell you what fees you’ll have to pay because we couldn’t locate you in the system”

was the message she got

And then this

"I'm a registered Democrat in Texas. After seeing several other posts, I checked my registration. I'm "suspended." It says I can still vote if I update my information (it's already correct) but this has never happened in my 20 years of voting in Texas. Check your registration."

I lost my phone yesterday for a couple of hours and was freaking out because my computer (which I also use for, you know, connecting with people and such as) was here in my house, where I wasn't. Now imagine that some jackbooted thugs come busting in and take your computer and your phone, without warning. I couldn't so much as call my attorney for help because his phone number is stored, naturally, on my phone, and my son, who would help, only answers HIS phone when he recognizes the number.

And gawd only knows how long before (if) you ever get them back. All those photos of your grandchildren? Possibly forever gone.
