there are very sharp partisan and regional divides in such support, with the vast majority of Democrats (88%) and less than half of Republicans (40%) in favor of state or local mask mandates.Support for state and local mask requirements also varies based onwhere people live, with those living in urban areas (71%) being more supportive than those who live in rural areas (49%).Yes, of course there are crazies on both sides of the political divide, but it's hardly an equal distribution on this issue.
once again, we (actually, YOU) frame the entire discourse as an R vs D thing. 25% R vs 30% D. 45% not affiliated or minor parties. Point being, I am non-affiliated (a pox on both of your houses), why are not that majority, of my ilk, not asked?
Amongst all the local "discussion" of mask mandates, particularly in schools, I jokingly said that they should make masks "part of the school dress code" and sure enough, one school district in Texas did exactly that: made mask wearing part of the school dress code. 'cause nothing is enforced more rigorously than the school dress code!
It turns out Gov. Abbot's executive order named a bunch of various authority he invoked for his democide of children, but school dress codes are enshrined in state law and he cannot subvert that with an executive order.
To remove the state law would also remove the dress codes. Can't have miniskirts or spaghetti straps in high school, so the dress code law would stay.
being a Republican is not a requirement for being Senate Pro-Tem in TX. it rotates based on seniority. 2 of the Senate Pro-Tems under Patrick have been Democrats (Kirk Watson and Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa).
gaps in the pro-tem chart are from people (like Watson) leaving the TX Senate.
I'm pretty sure Texas loves that federal dole. They could get cut off at the knees if covid positive, getting treatments no ordinary Texan could afford, Greg Abbott continues to FA just to try to FO.
Cool, in future just let me know. I'd be happy to copy any story you want.
Thanks!
Thanks. I found a full copy once it had been out for a few hours.

Well, that's just not true. From Dok's article:

Ta, Jamie Lynn. I just heard on the morning news that Abbott has COVID.

That's the Paris ISD in east Texas.

Unfortunately when you sue the police the taxpayers pay the bill. It's not really an incentive for them to change anything.
Nothing is certain except death in Texas.
Ah but you see, Abbott is important.

I think you misunderstood me. What I meant was it’s a requirement for Republicans to be mean- spirited.
I'm pretty sure Texas loves that federal dole. They could get cut off at the knees if covid positive, getting treatments no ordinary Texan could afford, Greg Abbott continues to FA just to try to FO.
