Lived in Tarrant for 3 years (Grapevine). It was an interesting mix of actual Texans and people like me, shipped in to work at a huge company. At the time they were pursuing a "Silicon Alley" and trying to attract cell phone companies, Internet providers, etc. Actually, enjoyed living there (South Lake had an amazing shopping center and the restaurants were great.) But was very glad to move back East, as I had a problem with a state that still executed low-functioning adults.

significant as it is that Tarrant County went blue, i think the more bfd is that Sylvester Turner's seat in the 18th will finally have someone to represent it for nearly a year, provided mike johnson gets around to seating Christian Menefee sometime. also a bit of a generational shift given that fuck ted cruz is holding down the youthful side of the state pub party at present.

I had a serious case of Wambsganss once. Fortunately, the OTC ointment cleared it right up. Still, those six weeks of rectal itch were awful.

Question: What issues did Rehmet run on? Did he run on issues like immigration, abortion rights, LGBTQ rights, church-state separation, Medicare For All, higher taxes on the wealthy, etc.? Or did she run on the middle of the road, centrist, “affordability” spiel?

No one knows. He was outspent 200:1.

Bodes positive for Democrats FINALLY flipping that Senate seat, if it’s a Talarico/Paxton matchup.

A note of caution, Marcie, regarding your final "we'll find out in November": It's been apparent for a while now that the fascist playbook includes finding ways to interfere with or suspend the mid-term elections. Justification might include civil unrest (provoked by ICE stormtroopers but blamed on "organized insurrectionists") and irregularities in voter registration and ballot casting (like those that resulted in the election being "stolen" from Trump in 2020, as the FBI's seizure of records from Georgia will no doubt demonstrate).

So don't celebrate too soon. We may not find out in November after all ...

Elections are handled at the local and state levels. There will be a midterm election.

Your mouth to God's ear. But I expect that, if held, they’ll be interfered with and contested, and that results if adverse may not be recognized. “Free and fair elections” is not a principle embraced by this administration.

Fort Worth is one of the hubs of the military-Industrial death complex. If there is one group of people with guaranteed job security in this nation it is the employees of the arms industry.

And if they are upset with the affordability you have fucked up totally.

"Yep, Trump’s approval has been cratering with everyone, especially around economic issues. Even Hispanic Trump voters approve of him 12 percent less than they did at the start of his current term. Though, strangely, his approval with Hispanic voters overall actually went up between December and January, from -39 to -22."

I'm sorry, but idiots. I got absolutely nothing.

Wambsganss, she sounds like fun!

Actually more like funny if that fascism shit wasn't so serious.

Here's what Baptist News Global (hardly a left-wing enterprise) has to say about her:

"Wambsganss and other women who perpetuate Christian nationalist ideology (think Kristi Noem and Karoline Leavitt) enjoy the spotlight serving as mouthpieces for cruelty dressed up in Christian symbols and rhetoric."

Typical MAGA says "Vote for a woman with a foreign sounding name? NO WAY!"

I'll have to see if I can find Offerings to cue up from somewhere.

My best friend's family lives in that area. They were horrified that the Patriot Mobile-backed clowns were voted in a several years ago, and have been working -- donating, talking to people, voting -- to vote them out again. And it seems to (slowly!) be working.

He was recently appointed to some position adjacent to his local school board -- treasurer? part of the financial planning group? something like that -- and is considering running for the board himself. While he has generally skewed conservative, he decided in 2016 that voting for Republicans simply wasn't going to fly as long as they were in thrall to TFG. And he has always understood the importance of public education.

Hopefully he won't turn out to be another Henry Cuellar

Wambsganss, wasn't he the bad guy in Succession?

Yes! From succession, but not necessarily bad? The Tom guy, Shiv's hubby that ends up in charge, and here I thought that name was improbable!

Republicans are candies. Can I say that? Democrats? They’re like mail carriers. You know, rain, ice, sleet & snow? Cold weather? It’s cuz The Left is woke. If you’re a Christian, pray for sunshine in Texas on Election Day.
