I was curious about what sort of "Democrat" Thierry is. Information is actually hard to find, beyond her record on Trans and bans which Dok included in his post. Nothing from her Congressional years at all. In the Texas Lege, her issues seemed to have been "school safety," expanding tax exemptions and easier access to ID for people without driver's licenses. Note that two of these three sound conservative-ish. FWIW, she also seemed to in favor of higher teachers salaries and improvements in maternal health care.
All in all, though, I get a real crypto-Republican vibe here. We may have really dodged a bullet with this one, I kinda get the feeling that she would be thinking about switching parties after getting re-elected. She would have to change districts or leave Congress if she did that, but that looks like it would have been in the cards for her, regardless.
Here's hoping that her general election isn't screwed by republicans general hostility to letting people vote and accepting elections that don't go their way.
"When asked about her anti-trans votes, she called gender-affirming care 'Black genocide.'"
WTF does that even mean? Did she get her anti-abortion speech mixed up with her anti-trans speech? (Two tastes that taste awful together!) How is providing care to the handful of transgender kids in TX akin to Black genocide?
I've seen it, recently, this belief that gender affirming care is trying to harm the black community by "castrating and neutering" black children. It seems to be centered on the notion that most trans people are black, or that there's a larger percentage of trans youth who are black.
And of course the usual BS about the queer community not being honest about our SECRET "REAL" goals.
I was so glad to see these results! Thierry experienced quite a shellacking on Tuesday!!!
Other good news was that ER nurse and general badass Molly Cook defeated her opponent for state senate. It was a close finish - He was a state rep for many years and well established in the community and he rallied his support after losing the special election earlier in the month.
Houston is a pretty good place. Too bad it’s in a shith*le state.
Doncha love the week's batch of good news in bad times? I do. Little victories make big victories. Onward!

Yes, I am anticipating hearing of Thierry switching parties in the near future "because we left her behind" or some other bullshit reason.

Reminds me of anti-choice Black politicians who call abortion "Black genocide."
Maybe they should talk to some Black people, other than the one they see in the mirror, and ask what they think.
She seems like a woman cut from the same cloth as Jasmine Crockett.
Shawn Thierry needs to switch her party affiliation to Republican and be done with it.
She just missed 'talk like Yoda' day.
"Out of here the fuck you will get!"
I have a Thierry about this.
...ahem...
Bye bye, Thierry
I'm gonna miss you so
Bye bye, Thierry
Why'd ya have to go?

More bullshit from the Anti-Trans Brigade. Trans children aren't even ALLOWED gender-affirming surgery until they reach 18.
Apparently. Or maybe since Simmons is black she just grasped for anything that would smear Simmons as a race traitor.

A reminder of the value of the little victories, especially in interesting times such as these.
Nice times! Way to go!
I'm only used to getting awful news from Texas. What's up with this?
It's a big state.
Good luck to Ms. Simmons! Sounds like she's got a good chance and she's got a good head on her shoulders.
As for Ms. Thierry...bye, Felicia.
