Every worker-bee jerk who voted for djt needs to understand some basic facts about the labor movement, about how badly workers have been treated for hundreds of years, and about how badly djt and Elno treat their workers.
Everything I knew about Hormel (no, it is not pronounced HOR-mǝl) I learned from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EagPzmaVc38 Interesting that it was made during the company's short progressive period.
OT: I opened our HOA's annual letter with "The state of the Association is good. We have conquered the next block over and razed their hovels to the ground, driving them into the wilds and making pyramids of the skulls of their pets."
To see your neighbor's dissalowed decorations and disregulated flagpoles, driven to the dump before them. To hear their lamentations. This is what is best in life. ;)
In-laws have a contractor friend who did work on their house whose daughter is married to a Ukrainian. They had just had a baby at the start of the war. She got out but the husband went back to join the military.
I don’t know how the in-laws can feign concern for their friend and his daughter while also supporting Trump, Fox News and what they’re about to help Putin do to the Ukrainians. WTF is wrong with these people?
Hopefully the second season of President Trump will be such a ratings disaster that Trump and Vance are quickly replaced by Kevin James and Leah Remini
Trouble is, too many people loved those four long seasons and are convinced the old star was the best character, whereas the rest of us knew it had jumped the shark the first episode they introduced him.
🙏🏾 Thanks so much for this and all of your articles, Lord Erik of Loomis; your prose is sublime. Always flush-with-history, entertaining, logical and illuminating reads — and never too far in the weeds detail-wise. 😁
Turns out the Church of England is just the Catholic Church after all. Canterbury goes, in part for the flaws of his predecessor, in part for slow walking the prosecution of a kiddie fiddler friend of his.
"No one applies for the role. Those chosen for interview don’t have to be from the Church of England and they don’t have to be bishops, although they are likely to be."
Story bit: After Cosmo Lang died, the bishops got together to pick a guy, and couldn't. They waited till the Bishop of Leeds had passed out from too much vin ordinaire, and nominated him.
And that was how Aleister Crowley became Archbishop of Canterbury.
Yes indeed! 11th Circuit held awhile back that he's not entitled to remove the state court prosecution to federal court. He petitioned SCOTUS for review, which today told him to go piss up a rope.
OT: De ja vu. The same names being mentioned today were the originators of the evils of the last Orange Shitstain administration. Brilliant reporting and a terrible reminder that it will all be the same again.

OT: Granny is still hanging in there, and I’m with her, playing some music and rubbing her scalp. I don’t know my older artists very well. If she loves Elvis, who else might she like to listen to? Any suggestions?
Roy Orbison and Nat King Cole are pretty awesome. Nat King Cole especially; he's smooth and soothing. He's obviously not a rock musician but I think he could be appreciated by you both.
Ta, Erik. I've loathed Ronnie Raygun for so very long! My mother retired from USPS before he could cut her pension.
I wish I could upvote this 1,000x.

Is this where those feral hogs came from?
Barbara Kopple is a great documentary filmmaker and supporter of labor. Most years on Labor Day I do a screening of Harlan County, USA.
I would like to subscribe to Prof. Loomis' newsletter, but I'm worried I'll get Spam.

And the lamentations of their women? How's that going?
Those are coming out as an album over the holidays.
LOLOLOL
(evil smile)
LOL
Just wanting to see if anyone was paying attention.
The urges that lay at the heart of every HOA...

Rush in and die, dogs! I was a man before I was an HOA director.
LOL

They voted on "fake news"
I’m still trying to figure out why I’m hearing so many Ukrainian-Americans voted for asshole.
A "WTF is right with these people" list would be a lot quicker to write up.
Blank sheet of paper.
lol
Oh, I don't know about THAT. Let's see . . .
1. Most of them probably aren't actively murdering somebody right this second.
2. And well, that's about it. :D
Hopefully the second season of President Trump will be such a ratings disaster that Trump and Vance are quickly replaced by Kevin James and Leah Remini
The new season of "The United States of America" could have been so good.
Instead, they brought back the old star, who had been arrested.
And convicted.
Trouble is, too many people loved those four long seasons and are convinced the old star was the best character, whereas the rest of us knew it had jumped the shark the first episode they introduced him.
His lines all stunk. Dude tried to buy Greenland.

Solidly 12 out of 10, m'lord! 🙇🏻
I LOVE these detailed synopsis of vital moments in American labor history. A bit of knowledge is enormously empowering.

To be fair, the Baptist Church here in the USA is also the Catholic Church, considering the efforts they made to hide their own kiddie fiddling.
Good Riddance.
To a turbulent priest.

Surprise. Surprise.
Serves him right.
In the South, some Episcopalians refer to themselves as Anglo-Catholic.
I have an Episcopalian BIL whom we refer to as Diet Catholic.
"All the smells and bells, less of the guilt"
All the gilt, less of the guilt.
Co-incidentally we started watching the new Wolf Hall last night.
Home with the Howards?
Obviously the finale is Howards' End.
LOL
So, I understand that Mark Meadows didn't get his case into federal court. Wonder how he feels about that?
Yes indeed! 11th Circuit held awhile back that he's not entitled to remove the state court prosecution to federal court. He petitioned SCOTUS for review, which today told him to go piss up a rope.
https://www.scotusblog.com/2024/11/supreme-court-rejects-mark-meadows-appeal-in-2020-election-interference-case/
I will think of him watching Trump get inaugurated as Mark awaits trial.
I'm sure it took ALL THAT TIME to come to that conclusion. Dickweeds, dickweeds everywhere.
Fuck his feelings.
How does he feel?
Na-Zi good...
Bad, I hope.

(I’m a little tired of Elvis, lol)
Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps? (Be-Bop-a-Lula, Blue Jean Bop, many more)...
Link Wray
Carl Perkins
Eddie Cochran
Billy Lee Riley
etc
Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash if she’s ok with a more country bend.
Sinatra?
The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens
Jim Reeves?
Conway Twitty!
Chuck Berry. Fats Domino. Or you could do a Sun Studio compilation.
sam cooke?
Tammy Wynette?
Maybe some Johnny Cash?
Roy Orbison and Nat King Cole are pretty awesome. Nat King Cole especially; he's smooth and soothing. He's obviously not a rock musician but I think he could be appreciated by you both.
Roy Orbison?
I’ll look up old Roy and see what I can find. 😊
Hmm... maybe some Roy Orbison? Charlie Rich comes to mind too as an early contemporary of Elvis.
Excellent suggestions, thanks!
Jinx!!
