Curious about choice of law there. TX or CT defamation law must have some specific provisions, because normally a defamation plaintiff has to show that their reputation has suffered as a result of said false statements - and (a) what 'reputation' did these poor people have before losing their children, and (b) if they did suffer a loss of reputation or standing, it's with lunatics. Personally I'd try some flavor of harassment before trying for defamation.
