The Pro-Torture Lobby

The Washington Post reports today that Dick Cheney is putting an awful lot of effort into fighting anti-torture legislation and ensuring that American military can continue to create prisoner-pops (insert glowstick, say cheese!), including such weasely tactics as canceling meetings and closing other administration officials out of the loop. One guy who definitely didn't get the memo? George Bush, who told reporters today, "We do not torture." To be fair, he's still asking why " Official A" isn't listed in the White House directory. Seriously, though: At what point in one's quest for a political legacy does one settle on "championing torture"? Are all the other good ones really taken?-- WONKETTE
