"Simberg and Steyn are still liable for their claims, though. They claimed that global warming is a hoax and that Mann manipulated data to support the thing that they said is definitely not causing extreme weather events, "

Mann was hounded, faced a stream of violent threats, and really was the first campaign against scientists for having the gall to do science. It was the model.

So I hope those fucking bastards Simberg and Steyn go so fucking broke they have to consider catfood for protein;

And not the tasty kind, either!

That's going to need a footnote and some attribution, buster.

Great article, Dok.

Dok, your AI does not install solar correctly. The panels are on the shaded sides of the roofs (rooves?).

mr_snarky's avatar

Installed solar panels on the roof of Chateau Snark in '21.

They've generated 11.7 megawatt hours of energy since. That's about $1320 in savings on electrical bills.

Dok, thanks for staying on this topic. I see a lot of reasons for optimism in the face of the undeniable climate crisis. You're consistently getting good information to us!

I have a meeting with my solar installation company today. Hopefully we can get installation started in March. I'm so fucking excited to have a net zero home soon!

We put solar on the roof in Jan 2021. It's like magic. Silent, makes our annual power needs even with the EV we bought last year and the heat pumps we've been installing.

Tina Mouse's avatar

Can you please recommend a heat pump? I have gas heat and want to upgrade, but the local companies here mostly sell low efficient models.

Can I shamelessly take advantage of your work in identifying a good heat pump please?

Pexas Teat's avatar

We have Mitsubishi heat pumps, sized for different BTU capability for the square footage of the areas they need to heat and cool. We have had absolutely no issues with these heat pumps, and they work quite well in cold climate.

The EV I want had a waitlist in Canada, but that is in the cards too. And we're doing heat pump, and heat pump water heater, upgrading windows etc to make this place fully energy efficient!

Glad it's working out for you as well, I am jealous, but only for a few more months!

The best part is that the clean tech is vastly cheaper and faster to build. The economics is giving renewables a tailwind now, instead of being an obstacle. It took longer than it would have if we'd done a big investment early and the US managed to cede a lot of the industry to China, but nevertheless it's happened, and that's a good thing.

Concrete can be exciting, who knew?

I prefer abstract, myself.

Ta, Dok. An earlier story was a flashback to Dear ShitforBrains; this one is definitely a Nice Times. And thanks for the katz. Good night, beloved Wonketteers. I love and appreciate you all and I bless us all with love, health, peace, and grace. Dearest Meccalopolis got us up to our mountain. Tomorrow is the scheduled propane delivery, so he has to plow the driveway. Even when he does, it's not certain they'll deliver. He warned me they are the worst, and he was right. Please stay safe.

As a fellow sine-tist, I hope that Mann takes those guys to the cleaners, and ends up holding them up by their ankles and shaking them upside down so all the change falls out of their pockets.

Why weren't there ever criminal charges for the people who stole his emails?

Tina Mouse's avatar

Because one hid in the Ecaudaorian embassy in the Uk and all the other fuckers are in Russia.

I’m hoping National Review & CEI have to publish retractions, too.

What a hopeful vision of the future: clean air, green fields as far as the eye can see, wind turbines, solar panels, and gigantic cats.

John Thorstensen's avatar

Be careful what you wish for.

I'm on a mountain right now which has been known to harbor gigantic cats, and it makes a man watchful, especially after seeing the game-camera video of one of them taking a deer down right there in the parking lot next to the building.
