All animals deserve kindness and respect, but I just don't understand how some people can look at that behavior and not understand that, if they are primates, they are 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘜𝘴. Except kinder and more affable. Cleaner than many humans too.
But I suppose, in this best of all possible worlds, that if we humans can't treat 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 with anything like kindness and refuse to accord our fellows any dignity at all, we ain't gonna be striking out for animal rights anytime soon.
Candace Owens doesn't need Trump's help; she could make the Macron lawsuit go away all by herself any time she wanted to. I'd bet a substantial sum on the proposition that the Macrons would settle for some token amount, like 1 euro, if she'd agree to get on her podcast and say, in a voice that at least approached sincerity, that she'd made up the whole Brigitte-is-a-dude thing to pump up her user engagement, that she had no basis whatsoever for saying it, that of COURSE it's not true, and that she humbly apologized and had learned a valuable lesson and would never do such a thing again. And who knows, maybe she'll actually do that eventually, but of course not until the river of "legal fee" moolah from her fans starts slowing down.
Good morning, even if it is close to noon here in Louisiana.
After yesterday's rest and relaxation--and sitting out of work and inadvertantly pissing off my boss and her boss--i slept in first and spurts. Ended up doing laundry at 3am. In the dead of night I assessed my often-discussed underwear situation. Four pair tossed out for either being unfortunately see-through or having holes, leaving me with a total of...five. and a few of the ones left don't exactly contain things well, if you catch my meaning.
I'm going to poke around at the mall before I have to work. If nothing else, it'll be a mental diversion. Maybe I'll find something for when I actually have a bit of money that doesn't need to go entirely to bills and food.
At least the shoe I have to wear to stabilize the broken toe(s) isn't ridiculously uncomfortable.
Anyways, I don't say this often, but if anyone wants to talk or whatever, slide into my DMs and I'll answer as I'm able. I really did say slide into my DMs...
Back from way out of the bubble. Got really dusty and dirty, cleaned off in high alpine lakes, saw a lot of amazeballs spectacular scenery and skies, and navigated deep MAGA territory among people who were friendly if maybe a bit guarded (except for THAT GUY blasting two camper generators towards our site all fucking day long until well after hours and then coaching his obnoxious boys on shooting rifles at targets INSIDE the campground). USE CONDOMS!
In the third campground, we had terrific hosts, an older couple who told us a heartbreaking story of loss and grief and reconciliation, and how they got back together to heal themselves by traveling around as campground hosts and leaving all the sorrows back east behind. The husband had developed a lot of doubts about Trump. "They've gone too far," he kept saying. This would be a good phrase for Democrats to use as a sledgehammer.
At all three places we camped, signs of the administration's cuts were evident, mostly in terms of poor upkeep and little sign of anyone around to care for the places except in the afore-mentioned third campground, where the hosts were doing work far beyond their responsibilities. There, the husband told us the Forest Service district had cut 10 rangers, from 14 down to 4. In the second campground (the one with THAT GUY), we met the the ONLY ranger left to cover a district stretching over a million acres.
There is talk of closing many of the big hiking areas near us. The Enchantments is one of them. Some locals are doing the clean up work that rangers used to do but they a) shouldn't be having to do it and b) cant keep up with the deluge of litter/literal piles of human shit etc
The impact of the cuts is immediately discernible when you get to a federal camping area. I could not believe all of the maintenance work this elderly host couple was doing: buying power washers to clean the bathrooms, repainting the bathrooms, clearing dead trees - all the stuff the forest service people used to do.
Stopped by to see a friend south of Tahoe on the way to the secret remote location. He does search and rescue, and told us that the Forest Service district in which he works now has NO ranger, just volunteers doing everything.
"If Cracker Barrel changing its logo is damaging to your culture, YOU DON’T HAVE A FUCKING CULTURE."
I dunno. The only time I was in a Cracker Barrel was in southern Appalachia, and wow, (putting the matter of logo aside), I don't know that anyone could have come up with a more fitting name for that place.
I am going to lose my fracking mind. Our practices are all on Thursdays for the next 2 months. 530-630, 6-7 across town from the first, 7-8 or 830 two towns away, and 8-915 back in town again. Gods. I can do all the ones in town, but Mr Demi will absolutely need rides to and from his chorus practices. Even if I drop my own, there's just no way I can get him to his. And the nearest public transit will manage is getting there 15 minutes late after half an hour walking in an unfamiliar area. It's also a 2 mile walk between the nearest bus stop and his destination, too.
I think this 10 percent stake bullshit is just his people stealing shit.
Where’s the money going from this? Or the tariffs? Or the university settlements? Certainly not to us. No way it’s going to the taxpayers. It’s all shakedowns. My guess is Lutnick is behind a lot of this because Trumps a two bit crook but Lutnick has white collar criminal written all over him.

You never fail to find examples of loving behavior to bring us. There is a universality to the displays of care and affection you show us. Thanks.

I live in Los Angeles and I got 2 'scary' anti-redistricting mailers the day after TX passed their little thing, and another 2 days after that.
Tossed them, of course, but the fight and the mis-info is on.
I've gotten several of 'em, too. High quality card stock, there's money behind it so you know they're scared.
GOP/Trumpers are scared, and TX is starting this, because they know a fair vote is a losing proposition.
I just hope enough people understand why Dems are doing this and not tune out from voting altogether.
