'This Week,' Meet The Putzes!

It's The Sunday Show Rundown!

It seems like this week the concentrated political idiocy was all found in two places, NBC's "Meet The Press" and ABC's "This Week." And much like a Gozer the Gozerian of bad political takes, Chuck Todd was mostly there to usher in all forms of the stupid. So allow me to "bust" these morons for you.

We formally begin with TrumpCovenAdministration head of the Office of Budget and Management (OMB), acting Chief of Staff, and full time asshole,DMick Mulvaney on "Meet The Press." Mulvaney, as with every appearance he made this week (and any other week for that matter), had plenty of gems to deliver. After the tragic Virginia shooting on Friday that killed 12 people , Mulvaney was asked what Trump plans to do about it. Mulvaney decided to keep the "Thoughts and Prayer" cannons at home and skip straight to the "Don't politicize this" step of conservative inaction:

TODD: Does the president believe there's a role for the federal government here to preventing these mass shootings?

MULVANEY: […] We have too many of these shootings. And every time, the first thing we talk about is politics. And I mean, the mourning process -- period hasn't even stopped yet, let alone the healing process. So let's, let's, let's not get too deep into politics too soon. Let's think about the families and the victims --

TODD: This is not about politics. This is a policy question.

I would be surprised at Mulvaney's lack of empathy or faux respect, but then I remember this is the "Cut Meals On Wheels"/"Fuck you, Pay me" douche of the Trump administration. After rattling off the bare minimum they have done on gun control (can't mess up that NRA endorsement after all), Mulvaney finally decided to drop THAT little charade and expose how he really feels:

MULVANEY: And there's things this government is doing. But we're never going to protect everybody against everybody who is deranged, insane. I don't know what this shooter's motivation was. We talked about that before. So you're never going to make everything perfectly safe. But we are doing a lot better on enforcement.

TODD: Does the president believe it should be harder to get a gun, though?

MULVANEY: I think the president believes, very firmly, in the Second Amendment right, in our Second Amendment rights. He also believes that you cannot take these exceptions. And clearly, people like this are exceptions. This is not the rule. 99.9% of people in this, in this country who own a gun are law-abiding gun owners and you cannot allow --

TODD: Most people don't commit murder. But we have laws on the books having to do with that.

MULVANEY: We do.

TODD: I mean, a lot of our laws have to do with a small number of people who break laws, not, not a large number.

MULVANEY: You have laws on the books that -- that make murder illegal. And yet, people still do it. Laws are not going to fix everything.

Republicans are back on the "laws won't prevent behavior" kick? Quick! Somebody explain abortion rights, marijuana legalization, and legal sex workers to Mulvaney while he's still lucid!

Mulvaney ended the rest of the interview on the border wall (still dumb) and the whole John McCain ship kerfuffle (much more on that later as well) while Chuck Todd had a few chuckles about it. See clip below:

Next we head over to "This Week." Rep. Jim Jordan was there to bark his memorized Pavlovian response to anything Russia-related like the dumb former jock he is:

JORDAN: Attorney general is going to get to bottom of this. He said four things. Four things that I thought, he said there was a failure of leadership at the upper echelon of the FBI. That was definitely true. Comey fired. Mccabe fired. Chief counsel Jim Baker demoted, then left the FBI. Currently under investigation by the Justice Department. Lisa Page, demoted and left. And Peter Strzok demoted and then fired. There was definitely a failure of leadership at the upper echelon of the FBI.

Verbatim! Don't believe it? Here he is in the Barr hearing (after Barr's bullshit Mueller Report summary) getting his canned lines memorized four weeks ago:

Not much has changed for this lunkheaded mook but thought we'd point this out since he's said it every time he's appeared on ANY Sunday show since the Barr hearing like a big dumb puppy who just learned a new trick. Watch below as he starts his rant at the beginning of the interview like an over-the-hill comedian blowing his best material :

We conclude back on "Meet The Press" with Chuck Todd himself. When he's not busy "both sidesing" the news, Todd is busy posing dumb questions for conservatives to avoid or sidestep. But when he gets Democratic politicians, it's another story. This week he tried that with former congressman and current presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke, with spectacularly failing results:

TODD: On the asylum laws, do you have any empathy towards the administration right now that says they're being overwhelmed here? They need some temporary help from Congress to deal with this, whether it's, you know, maybe changing the asylum law. Are you at all sympathetic to that?

O'ROURKE: My empathy and my sympathy is with the families who've had to flee the deadliest countries on the face of the planet, who are met with the greatest cruelty and inhumanity in this country's history. We have the capacity to be able to take care of those families.

Empathy for the Trumpadministration?!! The baby kidnapping, tear gas shooting bastards??!! Those assholes, Chuck?

Thankfully Beto was there to smack your moronic question like Dikembe Mutombo blocking shots, like you deserve.

Because for another week you've proven how far "Meet The Press" has fallen from its former glory.
