"These days, it is usually the Cherry Bakewells you will find on supermarket shelves — if you want the traditional version you’ll have to find one in a local bakery, or bake your own."

Mrs Crimble's gluten free Bakewell slices are really nice. Ocado/M&S do sell some frozen ones

Not as nice as home baked though.

Sounds fantastic! I love Frangipane, especially with another flavor! I'm having trouble coming up with a memorable "ThoseCakesWeLike moves to Bakewell" joke, but you get it, they write themselves (until they don't)

I'm not actually moving there, just taking a mental vacation. I grew up not far from there and it's one of the Peak District towns I visited frequently. Castleton, Edale and Eyam are also favourite Peak District destinations of mine. Or just the Hope Valley area in general. We used to have picnics with my cousins at a local beauty spot called Padley Gorge.

So I just heard a conservative commenter's take on Trump's outrageous statement to Kristin Welker this morning.

The conservative spin seems to go as follows: Trump is showing humility by saying, I am not a lawyer, I don't know if I need to uphold the Constitution. I defer to the advice of my lawyers, who will always follow the law.

Trump refusing to accept responsibility for something he did that isn't exactly well received? Nothing new there.

WE all should probably ignore most of Trump's comments these days.

" sell a kidney to afford eggs"

I buy an egg and sausage croissant on the way to work every morning. We'll see if that changes due to supply chain issues. I was thinking of trying to copy these all seed crackers I've been buying, as a better breakfast option.

The New Republic

‪@newrepublic.com

This May 22 dinner is a high crime and misdemeanor. A president of the United States can’t use the office to enrich himself in this way, from potentially anonymous donors for whom he might do favors. This is as textbook as corruption gets.

So I had to ask Trumpy Neighbor what she thought about Trump's comment that he "didn't know" if he was supposed to uphold the Constitution.

When confused about Trump, it's always good to get an authoritative reply from Trumpy Neighbor, who knows all.

She said he was kidding, because "he knows the Constitution!"

"So I had to ask Trumpy Neighbor"

You didn't really HAVE to ask since you already knew what she was going to say

'𝑆ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑑 ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑘𝑖𝑑𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔, 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 "ℎ𝑒 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛!"'

And lo she proves me right yet again

Especially since dude can't even read
