If Tim Scott truly believes all the idiotic maga lies he says about “open borders,” or “indoctrination,” or the rest of the tired gop routine, he’s a terrible person. If he’s simply regurgitating those lies because it’s his political path to a place in the gop, but he knows it’s all BS, he’s a terrible person.

A sheep in wolf's clothing, that's Tim Scott. I wonder what nutty statements he could be induced to make by the right Republican word guys.

Tim Scott and I almost have one thing in common. Twenty years ago I was dating a Canadian guy and, because he traveled a lot, my sister did accuse him of being imaginary.

A couple of important differences - my boyfriend was actually real and he was certainly not a Christian.

"The Times also describes Scott as a “rising star,” which is absurdly generous. Scott is 58."

TBF that's Young Whippersnapper age for the Senate where the median age is like 66-67

Trump would never consider Tim Scott for his running mate. He's already dismissed potential VP candidates because of complexion problems. His running mate will be a straight white man as bland as tapioca pudding.

Straight, white and very MAGA, for sure. But bland like Pence, never. Pence was nearly invisible as VP, except when the stage was set for the coup, he defied Trump and didn’t play along. I think Pence could have delayed the certification by simply announcing that there were too many irregularities being reported, and he could not in confidence read the state electors results. It would have been futile, as either Congress or the courts would have ordered certification within days, at most. But it might have given him some cover to deflect blame. Trump will pick someone both unhinged enough to ignore the law and tradition to do his bidding, but not be so unhinged they steal Trump’s thunder. I’m thinking someone truly vile like Stephen Miller. Trump won’t select anyone with any sort of oath to Congress or the rule of law. He’d be smart to pick DeSantis, who is unhinged and would eagerly be Trump’s toady. He’d consolidate the maga vote. But Ron is his competitor, so I’m guessing not. People are saying Tucker Carlson, but he makes far too much money as a mouthpiece to accept the VP role. Maybe Don Jr.! Trump surely doesn’t believe the vp has any real responsibility, and certainly no power, so why not throw Jr. a bone while you throw him under the bus?

almost positive his pick will be someone that has little or no political experience but is a virulent sycophant with no morals and no issues going along with every weird thing Trump imagines.

i bet there is a non-zero chance he'll try to make a summer '24 "Apprentice"-style show out of it. you KNOW that is what he wanted to do last time but was talked out of it. he would love it. bunch of weirdos lavishing him with praise and a FULLY complicit media. his "base" would absolutely eat it up. especially if they have some clearly-fake diner-bumpkin yokel pretending that Trump picked him out of nowhere after he went to a rally and walked up to Trump (with tears in his eyes). 'that could've been me!' they'll fantasize and jerk off about nightly. make it a real spectacle. it'll completely drown out any normal policy debates and if this process is going to be the joke it already is why not just go full debased nonsense?

There were/are a whole slew of Republican Scotts that I have a hard time keeping track of. There was the cross-eyed lead poisoning governor from Michigan, the Bat Boy medicare fraudster from Florida, the Pennsylvania congress critter whose iPhone is sitting in a FBI evidence locker; really to many Scotts to count. I just try to remember that this Scott is the black one.

I still gotta read that co-biography he wrote with Trey Gowdy about what an amazing happenstance it was that a small-minded, proto-fascist, theocratically deranged black man befriended a small-minded, proto-fascist, theocratically deranged white man.

Two hyper-religious, anti-homosexual men, about whom questions have been raised, find each other and collaborate on a biography. I'll bet (he said cynically) that they spent a lot of time working very closely until the wee, small hours. It worked for me, but I wasn't anti-gay or religious.

Tim Scott tried to put a sunny face on the same shitty maga policies Trump embodies. The problem is, like all the other candidates fighting for second place, he never made a case for why the base would want him when they could have Trump. The base doesn't want a sunny face. They want maga with the snarling hatred Trump gives them.

Ronald Reagan was a nasty, ignorant, racist motherfucker, but because his Hollywood training taught him how to smile on cue, the MSM always told us of his "sunny disposition."

Reagan would have smiled to Tim Scott's face, but I bet he wouldn't have shook his hand.

The difference is that the MCU's winning streak is very, very noticeable. You can ignore the endless stream of movies, TV shows, etc., as I do, but you can't ignore the effect it has on the entertainment industry.

Sorry. When I contemplate Tim Scott for any reason, my mind almost immediately jumps elsewhere.
