Major burns in this article by SER. Love it!

So his imaginary friend basically ended up in management making 6 figures without a college degree. One wonders what color skin this 'buddy' had..........

*full disclosure, I was one of those scabs hired post ATC strike. I worked my ass off to get the new union certified and the fired controllers re-hired......

Scott might have an older friend who made good money in upper management, through local promotion. My father and GIL both made management that way. It doesn't happen anymore, without a bachelor's degree, at the least.

Agreed......my point was, in that part of the country, most likely a white dude.......IF he even existed.

“He got paid for his work!” Scott boasted. “The harder he worked, not only did he get luckier, but he got more money.”

They've *been* working hard, sir. What's missing from your equation is the "He got paid" part. If workers had been getting more money the harder they worked, they wouldn't be on strike. And yet here we are.

I grew up in Iowa with 5 brothers and every.single.one was in a union at one time or another. Not sure that's a winning message in Iowa

Who's Tim Scott's buddy? Let's have his contact information. Before we believe a single word out of a Republican's mouth, it has to be confirmed by an independent, third-party source, preferably with documentation if what they're talking about could reasonably produce such things, before we'll believe a word of it.

SER, you are always reliably top-flight. Every single line of this piece is…sublime😇

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2022/04/20/how-the-american-middle-class-has-changed-in-the-past-five-decades/ says that the middle class income range starts at about $67k. At $32/hr they don't quite make enough to make it into the middle class.

By those figures, I'm a lot poorer than I thought I was!

The automakers are reaping record profits now largely because of the union’s concessions back in the 90s. Now that the companies are back on their feet, the workers want some of what they gave up.

I guess they don’t believe in being team players

Serfdom is so underrated.

“Scott should stop fantasizing about serving drinks at a restricted country club to Ron and Nancy...” He should really put some ointment on that burn.

so, if Tim Scott doesn't become president it's because he didn't work hard enough? got it.

The U.S. Senate session schedule in 2023 includes 154 work days; an average of 13 days/month, with a range of 0 days (August) to 19 days (March).

It's hard to take seriously a US Senator grousing about any other type of worker trying to get a few extra days off.

Yes. Spoiled brats. Reminiscent of rancid, moldy sausage, even.

Good, at least he makes it clear he's not in any way a viable candidate.

There was a well-known story about 10 years or so ago, where some jackass radical right-winger blasted Democrats as lazy lay-abouts who needed to pull their selves up by their boot straps, just like he did.

Then he had a disaster. I think he got sick. Anyway, he had no money so he started a GoFundMe to cover his expenses. The comments on it were either, "Here are my bootstraps, thought you could use them" or "Here is some money, even though you hate me I still want to help you".

Morons like Tim Scott should be read that story every time they appear in public.

Bosh I say! The AMALGAMATED BOOT STRAP MAKERS OF AMERICA (ABOMA) are solidly UNIONIZED!

It is amazing how quickly these RWNJs can set up a fundraiser so we can all help them pay their bills

Look - Musk IS a genius. At least in regards to compensation.

The plan he offered Tesla was incredibly brilliant and is what made him the richest man on Earth today. I can't stand the guy but he gets props from me for taking all his compensation in the form of stock options, which really paid off.

"Tim Scott SUCKS!" - The weekend, the 8-hour workday, workers comp recipients and 7-year-olds outside playing instead of running dangerous equipment for 12 hours a day in a factory.

Weekends, 8 hour shifts, workers comp and adult-only laborers are still pipe dreams for many of us.
