Yay for Cite De La Auto! I was travelling in Germany doing all the Porsche things and Lady Vorpal was in France with her quilting tour. She sent me pics of this car museum she visited in Mulhouse. I was like 'WHAT?!?!?!? HUH!?!?!? Look at all these awesome pre-war cars!
So in 2018 we both went back and drooled over the Bugatti Royale (figuratively)
I saw the one in Brussels with my son a few years ago. It did have I guess cool stuff but think I was kinda museumed out at the time tho after several art galleries (I really liked the gallery in Amiens). And I guess maybe I’m not that much of a car guy.
(I remember the old car smell. Reminded me of old cars with vinyl upholstery and no AC from the 70s somehow.)
I did not know penguins used their bellies as landing gear. Very efficient. Smart penguins. I bet penguin island would have beaten the crap out of invading MAGAts.
Back in May, "SALEM, Ore. – Oregon Governor Tina Kotek has formally requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration to secure federal aid for communities across Coos, Curry, Douglas and Harney counties hit hard by severe flooding this spring." Today, still no funds, still no FEMA. Abbott better grow gills cause no help is coming.
Mary Lou Retton DUI bodycam footage featuring her Porsche.
“Is that the same Mary Lou Retton who was on death’s doorstep a few years ago and couldn't afford health insurance because American healthcare is so screwed up?” you ask. “The Mary Lou Retton who benefited from multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars proceeding from a crowdfunding campaign because she was in such dire condition and on the verge of being foreclosed upon?”
Well, perhaps the Porsche belongs to a friend, I don't know her journey, but America’s Sweetheart has a sense of entitlement all her own.
I swear, sometimes I think the only person who understands exactly what I mean all the time is my unofficial sister.
Someone elsewhere is all but calling me an apologist for Israel's evil actions, just because I said we shouldn't hyperfocus on the one topic to the exclusion of everything else. Nor am I deflecting when I talk of Sudan & Yemen; I talk about all the things all the time, what specifically this minute just depends on what set me off. I was referring specifically to those people who leave "you should talk about Palestine more" on a page belonging to a guy who talks about Palestine frequently, and even when he's not, he's got the Palestinian flag on his wall. If you talk about Palestine AND other stuff, then I was not referring to you.
Entirely off-topic. My neighbor's lawn service uses those ultra-loud leaf blowers to get rid of leaves. I feel I must express my utter loathing for those devices. They have already been banned for commercial use in my town but won't be banned for residential use until spring 2026. I am writing this to prevent myself from going next door and wreaking another form of noise pollution: screaming at her.
We all need to stop saying "Grok went full goebbels" and "ChatGPT tried to download itself" and "GenAI denied it". These are programmed by HUMANS. All of this things have been programmed and directed by the criminals who manage them. Say "Grok's algorithm was manipulated by the company to spout Nazi propaganda." Let's stop accepting their framing.
What could possibly go wrong with an organization which has become synonymous with brutality and non-accountability hiring randos off the street and giving them guns and face masks?
“A national incident management team, plus regional and headquarter staff” is at least about half of the 86 if they’re operating just 9-5. But wait, that’s not true, because you wouldn’t need an ops chief and their staff because there will be no operations, they won’t need a logistics chief and staff because there will be nothing for FEMA to get or move around, and they won’t need chiefs of planning or admin/finance, obviously. Naw, those are the only guys who are there. All chiefs, no Indians - pardon the expression.
There's a sweet little town here in NM, Ruidoso, we were just there a month ago. It's raging with flash flooding, 3 people have died. It breaks my heart. I'm certain, being a blue state, that FEMA help will not be as forthcoming as it was for TX. At least not without checking the voter rolls for that county.
Hi from France’s national automobile museum. Pix in your meme chat: https://open.substack.com/chat/posts/ad9a0345-9048-4c90-9d04-afe4c3ef5e55?utm_source=share
And the gif info is here: https://martiniambassador.substack.com/p/leapin-penguins
Who says penguins cannot fly?
I wonder if penguins know they're adorable and hilarious?
Any landing you can slide on your belly away from is a good one.

Thank you. I now have a new goal in life, and that goal is to train myself to exit the pool exactly like those penguins.
“I totally stuck the landing!”
This is the best one yet. "I BELIEVE I CAN FL...OH, CRAP!"
SHUT UP I'M STILL WORKING ON THE LANDINGS
I notice they didn't have a rust rotted 1970s Fiat 131/Brava in the collection.
Heh. oops that was an Eye tal ian car.
OK, so we can go with a rust rotted 1970s Peugeot in the collection.
Back when Ford was president, a guy on the block came home with a 504...
Its finish was not up to the salt air of the Rockaways and perforated pretty quickly...
Plus, imported vehicles were a novelty, it never occurred to us youngs that the French even made cars...
Whar Lancia Beta?
My friend's uncle Nick had one of those!

I still find naming a car after a lemon (citron) as amusing as naming a car (nova) that means "won't go" in Spanish.
It was nearly Limoenman.
Just looked it up. Didn't know Mister Citroën was Jewish either!
I read once that the Pontiac Fiera didn't sell in Hispanophone countries because the name meant "ugly old woman."

All hail the Democratic Penguins Republic. https://youtu.be/HJ8qGOe2K0o?si=FPp2OcKtaTbqZmB1
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
And there's several videos! These are freaking genius. Thanks very much. Laughing hard with tears rolling down.💕
Me too! Genius!
"Flightless birds? Get a look at 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴!"
Penguins do get around. I'm partial to the belly slide...
Not flightless, they fly very well UNDERWATER!
I am having a bout of jealousy over the automotive museum visit.
Enjoy!
Birbs need monocles and martini glasses.
Penguins having fun, right after laughing at TACO's tariffs.
Penguins CAN TOO fly. Briefly... ;-P
Ice, ice, babies!
I think that last penguino is Blondi on Epstein.

When I heard Alejandro Orellana was handing out face masks, I thought they were the full-face clear plastic shields that people used during COVID.
Which I thought was a great idea.
SkyNet rules.

To think I have been joking about Skynet all these years.
Not a good slogan. "FEMA: We Do a Lot Less than Normal."

That was the whole point of doge
Yes.
What have those AI blots been reading? Old twitter or something? Oh. Never mind.

Message not necessary. They're dead
Relying on the press for real information is risky at best.

And Deb Haaland doesn't kiss ass
Irony meter off the end of the dial for me. Ruidoso got hit with a major wildfire last year, which contributed to the flooding being so bad.
