Imagine being this guy’s wife rn. She’s doing the good Christian wife thing, having a bunch of kids with probably very little help from him to care for them. Meanwhile, he’s betraying her with underage girls. (ALLEGEDLY!) This is so much worse than just being cheated on.
This creep deserves at the least all the embarrassment and humiliation this arrest has resulted in, and I hope his wife has the good sense to leave him, but I find it interesting that had he paid for sex with an actual 18 year old, or had sex with an actual 17 year old, but not for money, that neither act would have the legal ramifications of offering an imaginary 17 year old money for sex.
Of course if you are a Republican Congressman from Florida apparently there is no legal consequence for having paid an actual 17 year old for sex.
