The left's betrayal of the communists was a capital mistake. It moved the Overton window to the right, and it has been stuck there ever since. They were certainly no more dangerous that the right wing extremists that have half of the political power now.
Coming from a background of many years working for general contractors, we would never expect a subcontractor to agree to work for us without negotiating a contract first and neither would they. And yet somehow most of the rest of us are expected to go to work without one and even if we ARE lucky enough to have an employment contract we don't usually have anyone knowledgeable enough to negotiate on our behalf, like a union.
I have this theory that Otto Appelquist and Joe Hill were actually lovers, and he shot Hill because he was jealous of Hill’s interest in Hilda Erickson rather than the two fighting over her, hence Hill’s refusal to say who shot him.
I realize this theory probably won’t play that well at the Labor Day barbecue.
