How appropriate is it that this ghoul is named Vought like the villainous corporation in The Boys?

It's really all about "Those People".

"Meadowcroft tells the reporter that those materials are being prepared outside any formal transition process, “because obviously you want as little of it to be FOIA-able … as possible.”"

Thing is, we can 'know' what's in it without actually READING it...Its going to be the same goddamned xenophobic homophobic misogynistic hitler-wish-list crap that hasn't changed since the dawn of mankind itself...

Project 666, oops! I meant 2025 is the gift these ultra-creepy far-right weirdos are giving to Dems a year early. Because much like criminalizing women’s rights to choose what they do with their bodies, the vast majority of voters don’t embrace these Christian nationalists’ views. Freedom of religion is sorta a staple of democratic freedom here. And millions of Americans are immigrants, or have family or friends who are immigrants, and don’t see America as a secret clubhouse for white, Christian bigots. Saying the quiet parts out loud has almost never helped Republicans. Only their most blindly devoted base is willing to put up with the wild restrictions on rights that Project No F’ing Way would impose, or is too ignorant to learn what’s in those 900 pages.

They don’t have the votes for their most fascist agenda. They won in 2016 because many “moderates” and independents believed Trump’s crazy promises to bring real change and prosperity to America, and to put a snack machine in the student lounge and to make all their wildest dreams come true. That and Hillary had the deck stacked against her with Russia, the FBI and voter apathy. If Harris and Walz stay positive, speak of real policies that will actually help voters, and perform well in their debates, they should win this in a margin larger than Biden’s in 2020.

"They don't have the votes ..."

The thing is - that does not matter if their enablers manage to successfully cheat

So, this is a bit like an extreme hardcore version of the "moral majority" from the ancient Reagan times?

If they win (a big fucking if these days) and try this shit, things are going to happen. They completely underestimate the blowback. That dude is softer than a bag of wet donuts.

I'm convinced they never think things through. They never game things out. They probably don't even know what the phrase "unintended consequences" means. They can't do the mental calculation of "if this happens" what will that cause to happen? And then what might happen? And then what? Instead they think they can bend reality to their will. Also they're ignorant of history, so they don't know it's been tried before and failed. I despise them.

They think that what they imagine is their brutal logic of fascism will sweep all opposition before them.

All this sounds vaguely familiar to recent US coup attempts in other places around the world. Having some tool lined up to be leader (only difference here being he's an ex-president) and a prepared set of decrees (aka "executive orders"), and policy initiatives all laid out. Given those stupid MAGA hats, it's almost like one of those color revolutions the CIA and NED fostered all over the globe.

Under the Romanovs, and before, the three legged stool of power was Orthodox Christianity, Autocracy, and Nationalism, as it is with Putin now. So it also is with this home grown strain of power hungry authoritarians. With Gott on their side they will ultimately kill to make this their “Christian Nation.”

Well it's nice and prepackaged offal so President Klan Robe (or whatever pliable toadstool they have in office) can execute it without thinking. Fabulous.

Folks, make sure you vote!

So this nebbish just blabs his plans for world domination to any randos with a camera?

If it weren't for incompetence, they'd have no competence at all.

It's partially incompetence and partially hubris

To paraphrase Elie Mystal -- "They run like that because they know nobody on this side is trying to STOP them."
