Every so often, when tribal matters are involved, Gorsuch judges in a sensible manner. Can it spin in such a manner that more cases are viewable as tribal? It seems like it would take that, to get anything good out of the guy.
What happened to ASSociate Justice Gorsuck? He can usually be relied on to side with whoever has the most money, which lets out the Northern Arapahoe and the Apaches. Has the Woke Fairy been at him? It's like I don't even know him any more, the vile old brute.
Uh. Since fucking when did the constitution give jurisdiction over spending, budget and taxation to the fucking Sooopreeeme Court? Talk about activist judges stepping out of their lane. Jeezuzz what an asshole.
The upper limit of the costs is estimated to be $2B. The newest US Navy aircraft carrier cost us $13B. Shut UP, Kegstand! We can afford it! Sell off some F-15s!
I can't tell you how many of my patients have cirrhosis from drinking or heart failure and other issues from meth.
Ant then there are the ODs, and the under 10 y o. kids with suicidal ideation. I love my job, and sometimes celebrate successes, but there have been soo many heart breaks heart aches
With “our” population, it’s alcohol and cocaine; usually crack. I patiently explain to them how their livers need to be as healthy as possible to detoxify the drugs they must take daily to stay alive. I was not aware of your job; bless you for your work.
In his dissent, Kavanaugh countered that federal law does “not support the Court’s decision.” And more broadly, he continued, “the extra federal money that the Court today green-lights does not come free.”
What does this opinion have to do with the contract?? Kavanaugh is basically implying that contract law is only for people he finds deserving of such protections apparently
I receive my primary care and dental care from an IHS system, the Toiyabe Indian Health Project. When I moved back home in 2013 they were the only providers accepting new patients, and that was due to some new regulations they had to abide by--accept non-native patients or lose fed funding. They're a great resource to the community.
The federal funding got Toiyabe a dialysis center. It’s the only one in our 10,000 square mile county. It would be a disaster if they closed to non members.
Wow. Nice model. I believe I spoke to folks at the Bishop Clinic many years ago in a different position.
I get about limited resources the California part of the tribal land is in Alpine County-the least populated country in California. A place with practically no services of any kind
I love Alpine County. There's a bar there in Markleeville called the Cutthroat Saloon that is a great place. Or was, I haven't been there in years.
Alpine is the smallest in both population and land area in the state. By contrast, Inyo County, where I am, is the 2nd largest by land area, and 2nd smallest in population. Our fairgrounds is called the "Tri-County Fairgrounds", encompassing Inyo, Mono, and Alpine counties because none of us are big enough to warrant our own. Services are precious out here.
Medical billing and coding are one thing AI should be able to help with, but the actual results would probably be more terrifying than the shameful status quo.
Call me crazy, but isn’t worrying about where the money comes from the job of Congress and not the Supreme Court? If Congress doesn’t want to meet the obligation under the current law, they always have the option to change the law. But the court’s job is to interpret the law as written, not fret about the budget.
I know, I know. This current court rarely lets pesky things like what their actual job is get in the way of their agenda.
Note: Gorsuch happens to be the ONLY member of SCOTUS who knows anything about US-Tribal laws and history. Despite being a right winger on most issues, he has voted in accordance with those neglected laws and treaties so far.
And the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, a day that 40-something percent of Americans have forgotten or never learned about in their Christi-fascist homeschools.

This is huge. We lose millions due to billing issues.
But there are lots of reasons for the shortened life expectancy some of which can be summed up with the phrase Generational Trauma
Ta, Crip Dyke. The twin plagues of alcohol and methamphetamine have decimated the tribes, too.

I am the RN Case Manager for the medical clinic for the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California. So I guess I see the most complex folks.
Our Healing Center (BH) just started a MAT program. I wish there was something that could help people get off stimulants like there is for opioids.
"It's BEER! I like BEER!! What do YOU like to drink??" <he asked, assuming everyone is a regular lush, as he is.>
Brett likes beer!

what else is new?

We used to take what we call "non-bens" But now you have to be either tribal or work for.
For the chronic or the family of someone who works for the clinic.
Long term goal is to get FQHC status and accept anyone

Don't I know it! I am getting to know the Health and Human Services folks, really delightful to work with, and doing so much with so little.

Damn. Leave it to Kavanaugh to talk about Native Americans like they're some kind of virus.

I would say that Gorsuch and the three liberal Justices are the consistent pro-Native-tribes bloc on the SCOTUS

Thank you all. Needed this injection of hope after the injustice of the previous story.
So happy for all the wins the peeps of these lands.
