I think it's a fair statement to make, when men request custody in something like 8% or fewer of divorces, if I remember correctly.

Yes, a number of men are discouraged from requesting custody, as the overall view is that the system is biased toward giving women custody, but I doubt that that's the sole reason that men just don't ask for custody.

Put on that good old Veil of Ignorance and test out that "Its impossible for X to oppress Y".

Really think about throwing an absolute like that around.

UPDATE New Gingrich has come out of his bunker to release more info on Drumpf's VP choices. He is saying that these rankings are not Drumpf's, noting "The only power ranking that matters is in Donald Trump’s mind."1) Sen. Corker (R-TN), real estate dude, noted as "stable"2) Gingrich himself, "I'm so flattered"3) Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), herself of the bread bags, swine castrator extraordinairehttp://www.politico.com/sto...

"Yes, a number of men are discouraged from requesting custody, as the overall view is that the system is biased toward giving women custody, but I doubt that that's the sole reason that men just don't ask for custody."

It might not be the sole reason, but it certainly is one. They also might be said to suffer from internalized misandry - they assume they can't raise a child as well as the mother due to the oppressive matriarchal force from being raised primarily by women themselves, and from matriarchal narratives about child rearing in the media. Men are taught that men are clueless when it comes to children.

I wonder how many men think they're doing the best thing for their kids by leaving them with their mothers solely due to that internalized misandry?
