The South tends to be chronically poor states and/or highly dependent on Federal aid. So the recession won't be such an economic shock to them.

WI elected a Democratic governor who will veto any gerrymandering or legislative bullshit the statehouse Republicans will try to push through so they no longer can count on it helping them for the next decade after 2020. The hilarious irony of last year's election is that Scott Walker was blocked from pushing for a recount by his own sore loser law that he signed into law, which required a vote count difference of 1 percent or more. PA has a Democratic governor as well, I think.

Okay, let's say a taco enters a cheap time warp and is sent back in an inexpensive wormhole to a more expensive period of time and is therefore worth more. Except the taco sauce, which was cheaper then. When evaluating the steady state of an unsauced taco, it must be considered than the worm hole length divided by the Filbert Gate Constant times .00723 Lamda squared, written on the chalk board as if you knew what it meant, times the sum of the radicals of Pi, and bob's yer uncle.
