Golly. Funeral home directors and crematorium operators are going to make plenty money the next few years. Cemeteries will have a few problems coming up with enough usable land for cemeteries, though.
Obviously you're unfamiliar with the film The Loved One, where a shady "memorial park" owner decides to change over to adult homes and comes up with a plan to deal with "the stiffs" by loading them into rockets and yeeting them into "orbits of eternal grace". Illegality isn’t even relevant. Many/most nonprofits don’t have a lot of money in the bank, because they disbursement it to the people that need it. They count on a steady flow of donations and grants to pay their people and their bills. When that flow is interrupted, even for a short time while the courts weigh in, they may have to cancel ongoing programs, let staff go, shut down office space, etc. Then those things don’t magically regenerate themselves if/when the money comes back. So it’s no skin off the Assmouth’s back to make illegal pronouncements, because whether they are supported by the courts or not the result may be the same. And meanwhile he looks tough for his cult, which is really all he cares about.
These organizations and human rights groups and affiliated non-profits need to keep filing lawsuits. It’s the only way. Protest, resist and file federal lawsuits to make these terrible people go before busy, exasperated judges and try to justify scrubbing all mention of lgbtqia+ people from its organization because “we don’t believe those people should exist or have legal rights. Their mere existence upsets people like us, so we want to alter reality by forcing entire organizations to pretend entire groups of people we don’t like do not exist, and therefore have no rights. This is the position of the Trump administration.”
This is just the beginning. Defunding any government funded agency for recognizing gay or trans people, or embracing diversity and equality is insidious and incredible that it’s all happening here, now. But it will get worse. They will not be satisfied until being gay or trans or non-binary or whatever they don’t like is illegal. The oppression will continue to escalate until met with enough resistance or legal barriers or something cataclysmic enough to stop it. The people who voted for this should weep with shame and beg for forgiveness from the rest of society.
