That's what happened to mine. Only I didn't end up with a detached retina (they fixed it before that could happen). The glaucoma is what caused the optical nerve damage. I've also got extensive retinopathy in both eyes thanks to 15+ years of not controlling my T1 diabetes properly (don't worry, sorted that out now). I've also hot a small cataract in my right eye as a result of the surgery to repair the glaucoma and retinal damage, it's tiny and very slow growing so my opthomologist is leaving it alone for now.
